Resident Advisor just celebrated a thousand podcasts and made a bunch of playlists to highlight for the listener. I landed on the Evolution of New York Dance Music playlists. Nice to be even thought of in that capacity. 🫡

The mix itself I was and still am very proud of. I recorded the open on 14th Street train station. I used a mix of CDJs and wax and bookended it with a surprise ending from one of my all-time favorite records. The mix still holds up after 10+ years later, if I don’t say so myself, haha.

I want to take a minute to thank everyone who sent their love and support last week to my album announcement and the lead single FULL EFX-HEADRUSH on @lies_records . Thank you the response for this project has been surreal I kinda thought it was going to be “if a tree fell in the Forrest will anyone hear it” sort of moment as I’m not particular super active on social media and my anxiety for months prepping this was on all time high but this was a wonderful surprise so thank you!!!

This Friday April 17 the night will build in layers. From Devoye’s fluid, genre-spanning pulse to @marteka.fair’s tightly coiled, evolving structures, the energy shifts and deepens in waves. @tensal_official drives forward with a precise, ever-morphing force shaped on the global stage, while @anthony_parasole anchors the room with a lineage forged in New York’s foundations. Through the REX Sound System, it all connects—past, present, and future locked into one system.

Devoye is a Bronx-born DJ and producer channeling a global pulse through house and techno. Rooted in Jamaican heritage and shaped by hip-hop and electronic traditions, his sets weave across genres with a sharp, instinctive touch. With releases on Coloring Lessons, Haus of Altr, and 3afak, Devoye brings a deeply felt, emotionally charged approach.

Marteka Fair is a North Carolina–based producer and DJ shaping a sound where hypnotic techno meets intricate, polyrhythmic design. Her work leans into repetition and tension, building layered structures that unfold over time. Having shared lineups with artists like Rrose, Rødhåd, and DVS1, and performed at institutions such as Tresor and The Great Beyond, Marteka brings a focused, long-form approach to every set. She’s also one half of Mit Filter and co-creator of Liminal Space.

Anthony Parasole is a Brooklyn-born mainstay of New York’s house and techno lineage, known for deep, uncompromising selections that bridge NYC grit with global club culture. With releases on Ostgut Ton and Dekmantel, and as the force behind The Corner, his influence spans underground warehouse parties to institutions like Berghain and Shelter. Parasole continues to shape dance floors with a sound rooted in tradition.

Tensal is the solo project of Héctor Sandoval (Exium), channeling a modern, cyclical vision of techno built on analog exploration and rhythmic experimentation. Through releases on Mord, Soma, Modularz, ARTS, and his own Tensal Records, he’s carved out a sound that balances physical impact with evolving structures. A regular at venues such as RSO, KHIDI, and Tresor, he brings that same intensity into immersive sets driven largely by his own productions taken in Refuge NYC by @anthony_parasole

Anthony Parasole is one of NYC’s hardest-working artists and a defining figure in Brooklyn’s original hard-edged house and techno sound. A veteran of the city’s underground, he first made his mark within the deep house lineage of Jus-Ed, DJ Qu, Joey Anderson, and Fred P, which preceded the boroughs’ techno resurgence.

A longtime collaborator of @levon_vincent through their Deconstruct Music project, Parasole also drew from the 2010s wave of hard techno to shape his own vision, a punishing sound rooted equally in Berlin and Brooklyn’s weighty techno heritage. As a DJ, he brings deep experience and unpredictability, where house morphs into brutal techno and old-school cuts collide with new experiments, all while maintaining a voice that is unmistakably his own. Period.

Board the SOFTEESHIP cuz Planet Softee returns for a late-nite voyage.

This edition lands in a new (for moi) East Williamsburg warehouse, spanning two floors from 11:59pm Saturday, February 7 through 12pm Sunday, February 8.

Expect two atmospheres: the Techno Orbit and moi’s infamous CHILLzone, plus a rooftop ‘outer space’ for cooling off & stargazing between transmissions.
