As Sunday’s peculiar rain washed the summer dust off my windows, it was easy to be introspective while I edited this snugly in bed.

While sitting with these personal stories, I reflected on why I started building Gallop in the first place.

I was in a phase of solitude when the idea came to me, albeit in a panic moment figuring out a last-minute gift for someone I cared about.   Yes, with Gallop I set out to solve my pattern of bad gifting, but underneath it I set out to feel closer with the people I cared about.

I’ve come to understand that gifts are a relic of belonging with someone.

I shot this video on Friday during Gallop’s Small Business September event at PF Candle in Echo Park, hence the candles on the shelves in the background.

What was intended to be a cute compilation social clip, blossomed into a vulnerable desire to be with someone you couldn’t be with right now.

And it reminded me why I started this gifting adventure in the first place.

Hopefully this made you think about the people you care about, too. by @anthonyabaci
