📈 S&P 500: 7702 Decides Everything

7702 is key this week. Hold it with daily closes above and I think it turns the entire market back up. Fail to hold it and this becomes a breakdown that pulls the market lower, with 7352 as the target, the year to date anchored VWAP.

This market has just been sideways to grinding higher with low volume and low volatility. Coming off last week, this is a key area. Either the grind higher continues, because right now it just looks like a minimal pullback worth bouncing from, or this is something bigger. Fail to hold 7702 and that’s where October volatility could show up. I think the entire stock market leans on this area in the S&P.

💻 Nasdaq: 30,600 Needs to Be Regained

30,600 needs to be regained early in the week, otherwise I think we’re headed to 28,568. Nasdaq is going to be watching the S&P’s 7702 level very closely, that’s a big lead for Nasdaq traders this week.

If 7702 breaks in the ES, I think these indexes head lower, with 28,568 probably coming quickly in the NQ. Flip side, if 7702 holds, that could pull Nasdaq up, but for this market to keep any momentum higher, Nasdaq needs to regain 30,600 on a daily closing basis.

🔄 Russell 2000: From Strongest to Weakest

The Russell failed to get above 2820, and it’s gone from the market trending straight higher to the market trending straight lower. It’s very rare to see a tape change that much, but the Russell is close to doing just that. Remember, this was the strongest market all year, now it’s turned into the weakest one.

Don’t regain 2820 soon and I think 2656 comes into play this week. Bigger picture, there’s a downtrend that I think will be important, sitting just above the 2820 area. Another index likely watching the S&P’s 7702 for leadership this week.

📉 Bonds: 103’28 Is So Important

103’28 is so important to hold. If bonds can hold that, then 107’14 is in play, and that would be a decent bounce for this market. All the volatility right now remains in bonds, and if we get up to 107’14, I think that’s a sell the rally market.

This market has been trending lower, and I look at this bounce as just that, a bounce, not a trend reversal yet. We won’t know if it’ by @anthonyccrudele

🔄 Russell 2000: Trendline Break Could Spark a Breakout

Critical moment for the Russell. 2821 is the year to date anchored VWAP, and I like last week’s low as a place to lean on for longs. I’m not a big trendline guy, but the Russell has been trending down perfectly over the last couple months, and watch for that trendline to get broken on a daily chart this week. It sits right around 2870.

See price above there this week and maybe, just maybe, the Russell has made a low and we get a breakout move to the upside. 2985 would be my target for the week, likely providing resistance once again. Russell is my favorite look for the week, I can start establishing longs in this area, with a stop below last week’s low. Risk reward is really good here if it’s going to hold.

💻 Nasdaq: 30,600 Is the Key

If 30,600 holds, we’re likely headed up to 32,600. Nasdaq remains key to the indexes sustaining momentum to the upside. Fail to hold 30,600 and last week’s lows come back into play, maybe even lower.

Nasdaq isn’t the cleanest setup right now, I could also see a scenario where we chop around 30,600 this week.

📈 S&P 500: 7696 to 8040

If 7696 holds, I think we get an 8 handle on the S&P soon. That doesn’t mean the market’s going to fall apart if it doesn’t hold, it just means we head into a two way tape with a slightly bearish bias.

This market remains trending sideways to higher with low volume and low volatility, honestly my least favorite market for day traders right now.

📉 Bonds: Rally Into Resistance, Then Sell

I think bonds are headed to 104’09 this week, where I expect resistance once again. Support below comes in at 100’27. Bonds are still in a trending downward market, it’s a sell the rally market until proven otherwise.

In the meantime, we may drift higher, but that doesn’t mean it’s a long. It means wait for it to get up and test resistance, and if it struggles there, sell it. If it pushes above 104’09, then maybe just maybe you see a steeper rally up to the 107’15 area. I doubt that happens this week unless there’s news, but anything’s possible. If bonds did rally like that, I’d expect equities to find it bullish.

🛢️ Crude Oil: 9160 Is the Pivot

New month, new quarter, and not much has changed with oil. $91.60 remains the pivot for me. With all the news and headlines swirling around, this isn’t a clean technical look right now, it’s just a pivotal area. Hold above it and we could see a move back to $102 to $103. Fail to hold $91.60 on daily closes and it could head back down to $79.73, the year to date anchored VWAP.

The market is trending higher, so I’d lean more toward buying the dips, but watch for choppy action around $91.60 this week. Above it is where I think pressure comes on the shorts and we could rally.

🥇 Gold: Sell the Rally Below 4345

Gold looks really weak unless we can regain 4345 on a daily closing basis. I think we’re headed sub 4000, with 3960 in play, a two standard deviation move below the year to date anchored VWAP. This market doesn’t look strong to me, and the only way I start to get bullish is daily closes above 4345.

In the short term, this is a sell the rally market. I think it needs to retest the lows made a couple months ago and we’ll see what gold is made of down there. A lot of volatility in the range between 4345 and 3960 could be good for day traders who like volatility, but I favor the short side only for now.

📉 Bonds: Watch 101’31 for the Bounce

The bond market made a three standard deviation low last week off the year to date anchored VWAP, which is typically a good low. Fundamental factors are getting in the way of bonds right now, so hold that with a grain of salt, but I do think last week’s low in bonds could be pretty good.

Watch 101.31 this week. Hold it and you could see a bounce back up to 105. That’s the key level, if it holds, we bounce. If it doesn’t, do not get in the way of the steam train lower.

💻 Nasdaq: 30,490 Keeps the Momentum

New month, new quarter for equity indexes, and we’re starting the way we ended. Nothing really new here. Nasdaq remains the upside leader as long as 30,490 holds, and I believe we’re headed to 32,500, maybe this week or next.

If 30,490 gets violated with a daily close below it, we could be headed all the way back down to 28,500, but I don’t see that right now. Nasdaq has upside moment by @anthonyccrudele

This photo of my dear Aunt Flo and me popped up today. ❤️

At the time, I was losing, in debt, and out of mone, but I still believed I was close to turning the corner.

She believed in me too.

She loaned me $10,000 so I could keep my CME seat and keep trading. That moment changed everything for me. It gave me the chance to stay in the game long enough to finally turn the corner.

I’ll never forget what she did for me, but more importantly, I’ll never forget that she believed in me when I needed it most.

I miss her every day. ❤️ by @anthonyccrudele

🛢️ Crude Oil: The $91.64 Pivot

Crude starts the week caught between two key levels, the year to date anchored VWAP and the two standard deviation band off of it. $91.64 is the pivot this week. Hold above it and crude can keep chipping away back toward the $100 handle, with resistance from $103 to $103.80. Lose $91.64 and we could slide back to the magnet zone from a few months ago around $80, where the anchored VWAP also sits.

I don’t love trading crude right now. It’s sitting right on its one standard deviation with heavy headline risk. You can trade off $91.64, just stay nimble and be ready for the tape to move on a headline.

🥇 Gold: Struggling Below $4355

Gold remains in a downtrend and just doesn’t look good. $4355 is the pivot this week. Stay below it and there’s a real chance we head toward $4000, with not many levels in between to slow it down.

Push back above $4355 and maybe, just maybe, buyers can step in. If bonds get a decent rebound, gold could find a bid above that level. Big picture, a real move back up targets the year to date anchored VWAP at $4733.

I don’t love shorting gold, but that’s what this tape calls for right now. I’m staying away from it on a big sell off down to $4000. That’s where I’d look to buy between $3950 and $4000 with a tight stop.

📉 Bonds (ZB): A Rare 3 Standard Deviation Move

It’s rare to see any futures market three standard deviations away from its year to date VWAP, and that’s where ZB sits testing 103’19. This is really the last place I see this market holding. Lose it and the big round number 100 comes into play.

Bulls need to defend 103’19 this week. Hold it and we could see a real move back up to 106’10, likely resistance unless news drives it further. Clear 106’10 and this market may have found a short term low, with the rally potentially steep. Above that, 109 comes back into view quickly.

The only trade I see this week is a long at 103’19 with a tight stop, the risk reward is there. If it fails to hold, watch bonds start to fall apart, and watch the ripple effect across equities, gold, and a potentially big dollar rally.
