Kanta would have been 76 today. I’ll never be able to hear her words of wisdom again when I’m stressed, taste her cooking or indulge in a long afternoon lunch with her…

She inspired my love of hosting, holidays, and dinner parties - and taught me always to have more than enough food for everyone. I saw how she demonstrated love through meals and acts of service to others. She supported every thought or dream I’ve ever had, without question. She taught me to embrace growing up in the south but to never forget my Thai roots. She fearlessly lived a million different lives and instilled that same mentality in me. She was incredibly sassy, smart, well-traveled, loving, and kind. She was a fighter and survivor. She was an unbelievably talented chef. She was, above all, my mom.

I moved to Thailand to be by her side as things got worse. We were able to go up north to see her home and her rose garden. Looking out at the base of the mountains, she sat there and smiled; she was so proud of her garden.

I made sure I was with her every single day; I was the last person to hold her hand before she left this world. We honored her life in traditional Thai style and held a seven day Buddhist ceremony. It was filled with white florals, daily offerings, and traditional rituals.

A few years ago, Colin and I bought her a mug for Christmas with her spirit animal on it - a red fox - and she loved it so much. We replicated it and gave them to everyone who came. While her road through this life was a hard one, I finally saw my mom at peace surrounded by loved ones and was able to say my goodbyes.

Those who have reached out, sent flowers and messages. Thank you. Seeing how many people loved my mom warms my heart.

The photo of her giving the finger at the Golden Gate Bridge is my absolute favorite photo of her. She was so happy that day and always makes me smile.

On Friday Sept 13th at 6pm our baby milo crossed the rainbow bridge. Our sweet boy was tired; I’ve been staying up taking care of him. Watching his movements, seeing his confusion and pain. I held him and asked him to let me know when he was ready. With the saddest howl and pain in his voice he let me & Colin know. Part of my world ended when I heard that - but my baby was ready.

It was a privilege giving him the best life I could give him. I will cherish all 14 years of being his daddy.

Milo; you will be missed oh so much. You traveled and saw more of the US than most. You lived in our version of a penthouse in Chinatown NYC, the star studded streets of Hollywood, to the mountains of Tahoe and finally our home in Beacon. You gave me all of your love and I thank you. May you find the softest pillow and the warmest spot to sun bathe across the bridge. I miss your kisses and cannot wait to see you again.

I promise to take care of your brother Channing and papa Colin. I am sad and numb. I cry randomly and breathing feels impossible. Hug your dog a little tighter and longer for me if you can. Give belly rubs or extra treats for Milo.

14 years of memories are impossible to narrow down for a social media post. Please enjoy some of my favorite moments im desperately holding on to. I feel if others see it - you can remind me of it when im in need.
