Recently listened to a podcast with @josh_howerton & @philipamitchell - HIGHLY recommend listening to it. The highlight for me though was them quoting @rtkendallministries

I remember my parents taking me to Bible studies at Westminster Chapel where he ministered and saw my dad’s love for the Bible just grow.

Here’s the quote but in its fullness from a book R T Kendall wrote.

It explains the heart of why @revivalhousefl exists. We want to see be a place where the Word of God AND the Spirit of God are equally welcome. No performance, no watering down, no lukewarm, no one-man-show, no bending to culture. Just the WORD & the SPIRIT.

There has been a silent divorce in the church speaking generally, between the Word and the Spirit.

When there is a divorce, sometimes the children stay with the mother, sometimes with the father. In this divorce you have those on the Word side and those on the Spirit side. What is the difference?

Those on the Word side stress earnestly contending for the faith once delivered to the saints, expository preaching, sound theology, rediscovering the doctrines of the Reformation—justification by faith, sovereignty of God. Until we get back to the Word, the honor of God’s name will not be restored.

What is wrong with this emphasis? Nothing. It is exactly right, in my opinion.

Those on the Spirit side stress getting back to the Book of Acts, signs, wonders, and miracles, gifts of the Holy Spirit—with places being shaken at prayer meetings, get in Peter’s shadow and you are healed, lie to the Holy Spirit and you are struck dead. Until we recover the power of the Spirit, the honor of God’s name will not be restored.

What is wrong with this emphasis? Nothing. It is exactly right, in my opinion.

The problem is, neither will learn from the other. But if these two would come together, the simultaneous combination would mean spontaneous combustion.

Last night at our first official Sunday service @revivalhousefl, we had people filling the aisles and the altar as we sang together, believing God for revival!

I’m so grateful to our incredible team who hosted people so well taking in over 18 first time guest/family connect cards.

I’m grateful to our Kids team who served and led 56 Kids.

I’m grateful for our parking team that quickly and efficiently parked over 105 cars.

Grateful for our coffee team that made 80+ espresso drinks in 30 minutes.

Our set up and tear down tear that transformed an entire venue within an hour.

Our incredible worship/production/creative teams who put countless hours into preparation and post edits.

What a joy it is to build the church together. The church isn’t a one-man or two-person show — it’s an army of people rallying together to build a space where God’s presence is welcome.

If you live in Flagler and haven’t joined a local church, it’s time to do it. Maybe it’s Revival House, maybe it’s another great church in town.

If you live in Flagler and know there’s got to be something more to life, go to church this Sunday. Just one Sunday can change your whole life.

Visited NYC for the first time earlier this year and I had the honor of visiting Ground Zero.

Like everyone, I remember where I was and what I was doing on that day. The scale of what happened that day is still hard to comprehend.

Lindsay & I prayed that @revivalhousefl would be a great place for Kids to encounter Jesus.

This past Sunday, we saw 47 kids (Under 10s) hear about Jesus at our Culture Sunday!

2. This generation of Youth is in love with prayer & Bible reading

3. I love being a father

Some of the loneliest moments in life aren't when nobody shows up for you.

They're when you realize you haven't shown up for others either.

Romans 12:15 doesn't give us an out. It doesn't say rejoice when it's convenient or when you feel like it. It just says rejoice with those who rejoice.

That's a standard worth living up to.

Celebrate others ALWAYS.
