My basketball career has officially come to an end. What a blessing it’s been! I will never forget my family, coaches, teammates, and supporters who have all been a part of the journey since I was a kid. Whether it was playing for my dad and Mr. Stanton on Jackson Black in 6th grade, playing “school” against my mom in the driveway, shooting for hours on end at the YMCA, playing AAU ball for countless summers in different states, winning a state championship my sophomore year at Jackson, winning the Federal League 3 times, playing in my first college game, having a great career at Baldwin Wallace, entering the transfer portal and ending up at Case Western Reserve where we won the UAA and made it to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. Every team I’ve played for will forever hold a special place in my heart. To ALWAYS look up in the stands and see the people I loved the most gave me incredible joy.

Through all the accolades and accomplishments that you see, I want to talk about something some of you may not have seen. That something is the transformation that took place in my heart. Having nerve damage my junior year was the hardest, most depressing year of my life. I came home from fishing and fell over, lower body went numb, was rushed to the ER. I was not sure if I would be able to walk again. I prayed so hard sometimes, and I was so mad at God. Why me? However, through prayer, patience, perseverance, and faith the Lord lifted me up and gave me strength when I had none left. Slowly but surely my muscles came back in my lower body. Although I was never the same, I ended up exactly where I needed to be according to God’s plan. To this day my left calf still doesn’t work; but again, the Lord lifted me up and gave me strength where I had none. Through this adversity and struggle, I learned more than from winning or playing in any game. Basketball taught me that if you put your faith in the world, it will always let you down. But if you put your faith in the Lord, you will be rewarded eternal life in heaven. Some will remember me for my crossover, some for the game winning shots. What an incredible journey the game of basketball has taken me down. It taught me hard work, to rely on God when I am weak, and to never give up in the face of adversity. Striving to be great at this sport shaped me into the person I am today. I have found unbelievable support from my family, friends, and those who love me throughout my career and can’t say anything to put into words what basketball has given me. Although 4 years at BW has been nothing shy of exceptional, I’m excited to explore more opportunities and enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility. Thank you BW, and those that taught me the game I love.
