raposo, zorro común, red fox ("silver fox")

aínda que sexan negros, son a mesma especie que o raposo común. foron introducidos en Prince Edward Island porque as peles dos "silver fox" eran unhas das máis valoradas

even though they're black, they belong to the same species as the red fox. they were introduced to PEI because the "silver fox" pelt was one of the most valuable ones

queda pouco máis dun mes para que comecen as primeras "rapas das bestas". as da foto son da Serra da Groba, no curro de Torroña (Pontevedra), un dos lugares onde se segue a celebrar esta tradición

in about a month this ancient tradition ("rapa das bestas") will begin one more time in Galicia. wild horses are caught once a year to cut their manes and tails before releasing them back into the mountains

Roadkills like this one are an example of how human activities affect wildlife. I believe it's crucial to overcome the inertia of immediacy and be willing to sacrifice a few minutes of our time rather than an entire animal's life.
