(this is a personal statement)so much love to everyone willing to have the difficult conversations, hear eachother out, be present and show eachother tangible care even thru conflict & accountability processes.I have so much respect for those who planned Rad Trans Pride!!❤️‍🔥I love all of my comrades, but I would be remiss if i didn't acknowledge the significant amount of emotional and structural labor that People of the Global Majority poured into conversations and docs the past couple weeks. And name that most importantly, they *shouldn't have to*My hope is that our collective experiences, the vulnerabilities bore witness to at the Meet & Greet and the event itself reaffirm for all of us exactly the kind of selfless community space we're working towards, (and help further radicalize us all, and remind us of the kind of connection that only comes after hard conversations are held, and we commit to moving differently).Thank you all 🏴 by @antibinarypdx

we'll be at Milwaukie Pride, next Saturday, July 25th! we'll be there around 10ish, then packing up n hoping to head out by 3pm ❤️‍🔥the event is at Scott Park at 10660 SE 21st Ave, MilwaukiePLEASE share, boost, show up and help make this event a success 🙌 we had a really safe feeling experience last year, that we want to share with yall! We'd asked about police presence ahead of time and were told since it's a permitted event, they might be around the nearby sidewalks outside the park borders, but that they weren't welcome in the park and that had been very clearly communicated to them ahead of time.Day of, when one of our team members saw 1 cop in the park, and immediately let volunteers know, an organizer came to talk to us right away.the officer had already left the park.the conversation was very centered around how it impacted us, organizers showed great compassion and reaffirmed the values of the event and expectations of the police, and how they might prevent this from happening in the future ❤️‍🔥we know that smaller town pride celebrations often *don't* respond with this level of care, so it's important to us to name when queer & trans safety is prioritized!we're very excited to be returning this year and we'll update yall when we know more about where in the park we'll be! by @antibinarypdx

(slide 1/3) RAD TRANS PRIDE GUIDING PRINCIPLES• Disability Justice (masks are required)• No police. no prisons, no borders.• We keep us safe.COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS1. Wear a mask unless vou are medicallv incapable.2.Be a good steward of the land. Clean up after vourself. Let's leave the space better than we found it.3.Take conflicts outside of the space. No fighting and especially no using pepper sprav at the event. Flag a safetv team member for concerns.4. Don't identify yourself or others without consent.5. Don't record or photograph others without their explicit consent.(2/3)Our event is Masks Required to protect the most medically vulnerable in our communities. We are not calling it "Masks Encouraged" because it's not. That would not properly convey the expectations of the space we're building together. There is a Medical Exemption- this doesn't require any "proof," and you get a free sticker!Heat related illness is serious. It's not looking like it'll get hotter than 83 on Saturday, but we'll have a 10x20ft cooling station. fans. mist, cool water, cooling scarves and a few medics on site! Listen to your body and ask for help if you need it.We are encouraging everyone to check for a sticker first, and then OFFER a mask.Feel free to stock up on masks at the Medic or information tents. and many booths will also have masks should you need one!Rad Pride and the Trans Rally have always been rooted in disability iustice, and that value was brought along to Rad Trans Pride, in it's first year.(3/3) Many of our organizers, tablers and performers are disabled and/or immunocompromised Wearing a mask carries a lot of meaning to us. and for those of us who can't always mask, being able to safely remove it is the difference between being in community, or staying homeAs trans people, we know all too well how de4dly social isolation can be, so continuing to make events as accessible as possible remains a core value of RTP.Asking everyone who can wear a mask, to wear one while you're here is about living in the shared value that disabled & immunocompromised people exist and deserve access. Some of the Community Agreements might spark conversation. by @antibinarypdx

**SHUTTLE INFORMATION**We appreciate those who've engaged in good faith with what we've shared so far. We understand the importance of having hard conversations AND recognize Meta isn't a good platform for nuanced and often deeply personal and sensitive conversations. In the morning, the RTP Planning Team will be addressing a few concerns surrounding masks, heat, access, and how they relate to our values. For now, we have an important update to share about our shuttle between the bus and the park. The shuttle will pick up people riding the 73 line near Luuwit View park. It will pick people up at Parking lot of Parkrose Dental and drop people off at the park, and take people from the park back to the stop. It will run from 11-7. by @antibinarypdx

Hello community! The week is upon us! Rad Trans Pride is this Saturday, July 18th from noon to 6pm at Luuwit View Park. We're sharing a reminder about the weather, access and community support (this also was sent out as an email to tablers and performers!) Please read the whole post if you're planning on vending, volunteering, or performing at the event so we can be on the same page going into the event.Access Notes-The event takes place in the Southwestern part of the park, mostly surrounding the amphitheater. There are 4 bathroom stalls, all ADA accessible, all with sinks. On July 5th one was out of order. The shortest and fastest paved pathway from the further east side of parking lot to behind the stage, is blocked off by a construction fence, meaning the only paved path down to the amphitheater is the very wide, longer, sloped one to the left. We have filed a couple ADA complaints and access requests with the city for this. I've included photos for reference. The pin-point on the map images is the bathroom. If you're tabling, please try to have your tables up against the sidewalk so that everyone can access your booth! If you can put your canopy onto the sidewalk without impeding 4ft wide access, feel free to do so to help provide additional shade to attendees!Masks-The event is masks required except for those medically unable to wear a mask.We will have stickers for anyone medically unable to wear a mask! If you notice someone without a mask, please look for a sticker first, then offer a mask. If someone will not put on a mask, please let the Safety Team know.Heat-The forecast for July 18th changed very rapidly in the past couple weeks and depending on the service is reading between 84 and 89.The park has limited natural shade. There will be 40-50 booth spots total, we have only gotten 5 canopies offered so far to borrow, so we CANNOT PROMISE everyone a canopy! if you have one you can SHARE with another table/vendor/org, please let us know ASAP!(continued in comments) by @antibinarypdx
