A film festival is nothing without the people who show up, lean in, react, connect, and celebrate the stories with us.

The audience is part of the story too!

When you think of Caribbean films, what comes to mind? 👀
Cool Runnings? Top Shottas? The Harder They Come?

We know the classics, but Caribbean cinema goes beyond the titles everybody knows. So we’re putting you on to 5 films from across the region to put on your watch list.

How many of these have you heard of, and which ones have you seen?

#caribbeancinema #caribbean #caribbeanfilms #antilliafilmfestival #westindies

🇯🇲 Set against the political unrest of 1970s Jamaica, Better Mus Come is a story of love, survival, and what happens when politics and violence spill into every day life.

🇧🇸 Bahamian film, Cargo, takes on migration, desperation, and the difficult choices people make when survival is on the line.

🇲🇶 Sugar Cane Alley, follows a young boy growing up in a sugar cane community in Martinique, who is dreaming of a life beyond the one laid out for him. A Caribbean classic worth knowing.

🇹🇹 Trinidad Carnival is the backdrop, but there’s much more happening underneath. Play the Devil explores ambition, identity, desire, and an unexpected relationship that complicates a man’s path forward.

🇩🇴 This one is definitely not your conventional Caribbean film. Cocote takes us into the Dominican Republic for a story where grief, religion, family, and tradition all collide. by @antilliaff

Our islands are not backdrops. They are deep, complex archives of lived experience, history, and imagination.

As Shabier Kirchner shared with The Criterion Collection, the depth of Caribbean narrative is endless. Antillia exists to amplify those narratives. Authentic, unfiltered, and told on our own terms.

Antillia is more than a name. It’s a reflection of who we are.

Inspired by the Antilles, Antillia Film Festival exists to celebrate the stories, cultures, and creative voices that connect us across the Caribbean and its diaspora.

From the Greater Antilles to the Lesser Antilles, every island carries its own history, rhythm, and perspective, together forming one collective cinematic identity.

It’s Tuesday, so we’re throwing it back to the inaugural Reel Connections Mixer at @museusvi. 🍸🎬

The night was filled with fun, creativity, networking and delicious food & drink. Teams got to meet and speak with the judges, and a first look at this year’s Top 10 trailers.

For those who missed out—don’t worry! We’re already plotting the next one!
