There has been rising violence and intimidation from racists groups, targeting refugees living in hotels across East London and the country.

We live locally, and are part of an anti-racist group who want to support and be in solidarity with migrants living in our community.

We’ve created this resource with our friends at @migrantsorganise.

You can find the flyer version of this in English, Arabic, Amharic, Sohrani and Tigrinya in our linktree in our bio (https://linktr.ee/antiraidhackney) by @antiraidhackney

Key information for e-cyclists and those wanting to be active bystanders! Protect yourself and others! 🚲

As police are increasingly targeting couriers as part of the government’s hostile environment, let’s keep our communities safe from police.

Know your rights!

🚓What to do when you see cops talk to delivery drivers, and why it’s not always a raid! 🚴

Cops often stop delivery drivers to ask them for insurance.
Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, delivery drivers in motor vehicles have to give their name and address, as well as the address of the owner of the vehicle. They may have to show insurance, driving license and MOT, but are allowed a 7 day period to bring it to police stations.
This does not apply to legal e-bikes or bicycles.
But, regardless of what they drive, they do not have to provide information about their immigration status. They do not need to show their passport or immigration documents.
But cops are chancers, and they might ask for this. So we come prepared!

If you see cops stopping delivery drivers:
Tell the person being stopped that they do not have to answer any questions about their immigration status.
Tell them that they do not have to show their passport or immigration details.
If they’re detained, they may have to say where they were born.
Film the incident, and tell the person affected that they are legally allowed to film the cops while they question them.

The cops will try to dismiss you and get you away. If they tell you to do anything, ask them “Under what power?”

Remember:
Cops tend not to do immigration raids on their own, but they may assist immigration enforcement during raids.
They may also ask immigration related questions to people that they question and feed that information back to immigration enforcement.
Cops lie. They sometimes claim that certain powers give them the right to arrest when they don’t. But we question them, overwhelm them and film them so they feel surveilled, watched, and more likely to give up. by @antiraidhackney

i am very pleased to be organising this community screening series of Everybody to Kenmure Street ❗️in venues across London ❗️in collaboration w local Anti Raids groups❗️we may be living in a political hellscape where immigration raids, detention centres, deportation flights and many other forms of racist violence are sanctioned every day but — this doesn’t need to be normalised and in fact, work is being done every day to resist this

so - - - come through to watch this moving documentary about one such successful act of collective resistance in 2021 and to learn about the organising happening in your area. all are welcome and tickets are Pay What You Can £1-8

“In May 2021, a UK Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Pollokshields, Scotland’s most diverse neighbourhood, hundreds of residents rush to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours. In today’s increasingly far-right political environment of immigration raids, deportation flights and border violence, Everybody to Kenmure Street is an empowering reminder of the importance of collective action.” by @antiraidhackney

Save the date for our next upcoming Know Your Rights training.

Open to all! 30th July 6-8pm @ideafabrikaumw .

Turn up and bring a friend, let’s continue to keep our community safe against ICE. by @antiraidhackney

For the first time in British history, protestors could be sentenced as terrorists. After entering an Israeli arms factory in 2024 and destroying a shipment of weapons being used against Palestinians in Gaza, Fatema Zainab, Lottie, Ellie and Sam were convicted of criminal damage. The judge, Judge Jeremy Johnson, kept secret from the jury that he had granted himself the right to sentence them as terrorists. Through political manipulation, this is the first case of terrorism laws being used to convict direct action. Let’s end this before it begins.

Mobilise on June 12th at Woolwich Crown Court.
From 10am - 5pm

Organise coaches or cars from your towns or cities, make banners, bring drums. The message will be loud and clear to Judge Johnson: drop the terrorism link. by @antiraidhackney
