[English below] DESIERTO FLORIDO | Parte 2
.

DESIERTO FLORIDO | Part 2
.
It’s not just about the flowers, but also breathtaking sunsets, movie-worthy beaches and islands teeming with life. Yes, the Atacama Desert is not only the driest desert in the world, but it also blooms — and it lies right alongside the sea.
.
White sandy beaches and turquoise waters are tucked away in secluded bays, while the abundant wildflowers stretch all the way to Isla Damas, where no flowers had bloomed for the past four years.
.
The wind and waves kept us from seeing the penguins and whales, making it clear that this trip was all about the flora. The wildlife adventure will have to wait for our next family trip.

[English below] DESIERTO FLORIDO | Parte 1.
.

FLOWERING DESERT | Part 1.
.
The driest desert in the world bursts into colour. Beneath the surface, thousands of seeds lie dormant, waiting for the right conditions to germinate.
.
After 30 years without a bloom of this magnitude, the desert comes back to life, fuelled by intense rainfall. The vast landscapes of northern Chile are transformed, covered in colourful blankets of flowers cascading down the hillsides in a stunning combination of shades and varieties. Insects, animals and more than 200 flower species, some of them endemic and exclusive to the Atacama Region, thrive in this unique ecosystem.
.
The desert awakens, revealing ever-changing landscapes as you travel through it. Perfect yellows alongside intense pinks, giving way to greens that gradually blend into soft lilacs. Flower-covered dunes, colourful hills, blooming cacti and ravines hiding some of the region’s most unique species.
.
Without a doubt, a truly unique experience that fills your heart. So grateful to live in the most beautiful country!

Photographing spaces, walking through them, observing how light behaves, looking for a sense of openness while also capturing the details, materials and textures. Finding the angle that best reflects their essence and, above all, conveys a feeling.
.
Food, spaces, places or anything else — in the end, it all comes down to light and the ability to make people feel something. That’s what photography means to me.
.

Grandma’s cooking. The kind of food that takes you back, bringing to mind those special moments that stay with you forever.
.
Her recipes deserve to live on as part of our traditions and family heritage because, without a doubt, food has the power to awaken memories and stir the senses.
.
That’s what this Spanish potato omelette is all about: a taste of family tradition, passed down through generations and brought straight to your table.

[English below] Bombones.
.

Elegant, sophisticated, and made to be savored slowly, letting every bite delight the senses.

[English below] Kuchen de nuez.
.

Walnut kuchen.
.
Condensed milk slowly turns into caramel, wrapping around the walnuts and melting into the pastry that holds it all together.
.
A little piece of sweetness that reveals the caramel’s beautiful stretch as you cut into it. Paired with a scoop of ice cream and a coffee, it’s a little indulgence that feels just right every now and then.

.
Mi hermano y su arte.

Making hand-forged knives, layering steel upon steel, is an art.
.
An art that requires patience, precision, technique, dedication and passion — something my brother has spent years practicing, learning, experimenting and, above all, enjoying.
.
Hours can pass as he immerses himself in his workshop, the forge burning, surrounded by tongs, hammers, anvil and all kinds of tools.
.
Fire, steel and patience. Layer upon layer, the metal is folded, welded and returned to the fire, until many pieces become one. Heat treatment, sanding and dedication finally reveal a blade filled with patterns, telling the story of the experience and craftsmanship behind it.
.
My brother and his art.

[English below] La Mesa.
.
.

The Table.
.
For one, for two, for three or for four, what matters is setting the table, making it your own, and enjoying whatever begins there.
.
Different plates, matching plates, handmade pieces, tall glasses, little glasses, an elegant table, a colorful one, a rustic one… what matters is that it’s your creation, with no need for a “special occasion.”
.
Food brings people together, and it happens around a table. There are so many opportunities to set it your way, every single day. Make that gathering something special.

[English below] Espacio Negativo.
.
———————————————————————————————
Negative Space.
.
It’s not absence. It’s a compositional tool that allows an image to breathe.
.
It’s not simply about leaving an empty space. It’s about finding the balance between the subject and that space. A way to complement the story while giving the subject presence and importance.
.
Negative space guides the eye, communicates, and conveys simplicity, calm and silence, creating room for the subject to breathe.
.
Because deciding what to leave out is also a way of composing.
.
Negative space isn’t empty. It’s part of the image.
