What's it like to go through a wilderness?

I live on the beautiful island of Barbados and there is no physical wilderness here. However, I did have the privilege of riding a camel in the desert many years ago. I remember it clearly.

One of the first things I recall about that experience after we mounted the camels and starting on our way, was that it took me a while to realise I was in the desert. I was in the wilderness and didn't realise it. I was so distracted that it took me a while to realise where I was. I was having fun. Interacting like normal with those around me and moving with the group. All the while I was heading into the wilderness.

Secondly, it wasn't what I expected. We were cold and not ready for it. T-shirts and slippers were the attire chosen as we had set a certain expectation in our minds that morning as we dressed for the day. But there was no turning back. We were unprepared and couldn't go back. We'd already paid for the experience, left towards our destination and at the mercy of the team of guides we chose to follow.

Thirdly when we taught that was the worst of it we then realised we were being defrauded. We were not going to get even close to the envisioned goal. We were being lead to access the incorrect way. When we saw security approach in their vehicles and saw a portion of our investment change hands then the disappointment began to set in. We would only get this close. They lied to us and told us it was not possible to go closer even though we could clearly see others enjoying the fruits of their efforts. But we had made wrong choices.

Not how you expected this story to go right? 🤔 Exactly. Sometimes the full reality of our situations take time to realise.

I disappeared into a wilderness...

Now I'm coming out on the other side.

There are two very different stories of the wilderness in the Bible. The journey of Israel towards the promise land through the waters of the red sea and the journey of Jesus after being baptized into the wilderness. Both were led by God into the wilderness and both came out different on the other side.

But, their journeys were different...

Those who made it through are those who chose to trust God. His word. His way. His will.

I don't always get it right but I press on to the mark of that high calling in Christ Jesus!

On the 7th of November 2025 I took a step with my dear wife Christal Christie and alongside Pastor DrDionne Greaves and her husband Pastor Dr. Shane Greaves (dear friends of ours) and was officially ordained as a Pastor at Amazing Love Ministries

God is faithful!

I am a Believer, Husband & Servent

I choose to believe and receive the truth and love revealed to me by Holy Spirit who leads me to Jesus and Him unto my loving heavenly Father.

I am honoured to walk this divine purposeful covenant relationship called marriage as the husband of Christal Christie.

And I serve you through God's grace as He leads me in purpose and on purpose. by @antoniochristie

This can also be considered people-pleasing. Which is not gold but only shiny. It may be esthetically pleasing to the eyes but that quickly fades.
