Diverse firms do not just talk about DEI, they practice it.

In corporate America, as of 2024–2025, nine Black CEOs were leading Fortune 500 companies, representing approximately 1.8% of the top U.S. firms. Black individuals comprise 13% of the U.S. labour force.

As of early 2026, representation of Black chief executives in the UK’s top 100 companies (FTSE 100) remains extremely low or zero, despite a rise in overall ethnic minority representation. While 14 CEOs in the FTSE 100 are from ethnic minority backgrounds, reports indicate that Black leaders specifically are under-represented, often holding zero of the top 3 roles (CEO, CFO, Chair) in many, if not all, of these top firms.

I’d be interested in witnessing a conversation among prominent Black executives in the UK to unpack the rise and fall of DEI in the UK.

In the UK, post-pandemic, the death of George Floyd, a Black American man, prompted new hires, departments, brief conversations in public spaces, and the reading of old books about injustices that have existed for centuries.

What’s been achieved since then, and what’s next?

Me last summer when I was circa 55kg versus 65.9kg months later.

I think 55kg was the lowest I have ever weighed as an adult.

A personal trainer advised me to shred body fat before I aimed to regain weight as muscle. I am pretty sure I developed an attachment to the lower body weight. They say nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. Weighing and tracking food has its benefits, but it can also resurface a lifetime of body dysmorphia.

I don’t think people talk enough about men and their relationships with their bodies, or, rather, the weight they must endure.

As part of my performance with @witchtrialsmusic in Berlin a few days ago…

COMPASSION FATIGUE 🌹

Black bodies adorned in burnt attire
Skin supple and scarred
clinging to swollen frames
a bag of bones garbed in fabrics shrewd
and sullied

Both you and I watch with no cause to care
As we scan their style

They wear protruding eyes
concave anatomies die
the slow death of hunger
In the sun
