So much art this summer, but I will start with the most recent. An exhibition of large scale paintings by Joaquín Sorolla at the @hispanic_society. Sorolla captures the light and vibrancy of Spain in a commissioned set of works for Archer Milton Huntington for the museum (the cousin of Henry Edwards Huntington whose legacy is left at the Huntington Library in Los Angeles!)

Also interesting to note, John Audoban, the most prolific painter of American birds, is buried near the Hispanic Society while some of the biggest collections of his art lives in the Huntington Library. There is something about this connection & the Huntingtons being railroad magnates that feels truly bicoastal & very early 1900s.
