“Growing up in the early internet era, consuming images as most young girls did, Gudimova became attuned to a visual language that shaped her understanding of beauty, intimacy, and selfhood. Those early impressions continue to shape how she approaches painting today. In her work, Gudimova explores the interplay of beauty and darkness, revealing quiet, often hidden moments of the human spirit. Her paintings depict scenes suspended where solitude and connection intersect. Nudity often appears as a natural part of this exploration, not as a focal point, but as an expression of vulnerability and freedom. Through these dreamlike scenes, Gudimova uses femininity as a lens to explore themes like intimacy and vulnerability, creating a visual narrative that embraces both tenderness and turbulence.”

Small Sunday drawing in pastel. I didn’t have black pastels so ended up using graphite/charcoal for the back legs.. didn’t work very well. But I guess part of the process if figuring out what works and what doesn’t with trial and error.
