Details of the finale crowning burlap look I made for drag battle, first 2 photos by @gunnersaintjames

The corset, skirt, shoes and kokoshnik are made from burlap coffee sacks, I think I ended up using around 20 between all the burlap looks I made. If you need free coffee sacks Portland coffee roasters puts them on the sidewalk every Thursday between 6 and 7 am. Yes I got there at 6 am twice. I am dedicated I guess.

The corset/ stays thing I hand patterned and has so. many. bones. Took forever. Do not make a corset out of burlap. If you do sew with burlap use a shorter stitch length and it will look kind of fucked up no matter what you do. Lots of hand sewing in the finishing process. Mostly plastic boning but some flat steel ones for the front and back. Interfaced and lined with old ikea curtains.

The kokoshnik (crown) is referencing a traditional Russian headdress with a sort of western hunting vibe. The base is scrap cardboard, foam and burlap and decorated with old keys, real brass bullet shells, gold can tabs, Mardi Gras beads, rhinestones, crystals, eagle shaped finials, vintage trim and finished with a net I hand wove out tiny bugle beads. Don’t think I did it right but turned out ok.

Looking for housing in the SF Bay Area!

Preferably in SF, Berkeley, Oakland, Emeryville, near transit is a huge plus

Starting in October/ late September, flexible on move in

Looking to stay under 1200/ month all inclusive

About me: I’m an artist, drag performer and seamstress looking for a quiet and clean home. I generally am home sewing, working, or with friends, love to get into nature and go on hikes. I don’t have pets and don’t plan on getting any but loveeee cats. I am clean, organized and financially stable. I will likely be working in food service as a day job part time along with working on commissions, drag and ready to wear.

My ideal housing situation would be a house with a basement that I can have a sewing set up in, or a very cheap (and probably shit) room which would allow me to get a separate studio space. I’m sober from everything, i’m ok to be around substances but would prefer a low use environment. I don’t quite have the capacity for a communal living situation (regular group dinners, outings etc) but want to live with people who are friends with each other and enjoy each other’s company.

I am a (non binary) mother! (Mothex? Mad? Dom? Frother?)

@kloud.forming is genuinely one of the kindest, most generous and caring people I've had the luck of meeting. Not only are they talented, creative and unique, but they are passionate about helping others through their recovery and are currently sponsoring one of my best friends in her sobriety.

I am so excited to announce that they are now my drag child and joining the family with @jocelynknobs (grandmotha) and @smash_the.king (unc).
