If you’re isolating and you’re struggling, give somebody else the opportunity to listen and be a true friend, or you’re robbing them of the way that they would love to show up for you.

There’s a difference between isolation and solitude. Know which one you’re choosing.

Sometimes even the simple things in life feel like too much.

Your to-do list keeps growing. People need things from you. You’re thinking about what needs to happen today, what you didn’t get done yesterday, and what’s waiting for you tomorrow.

And sometimes it goes beyond being busy. You’re exhausted. You’re struggling. Even getting out of bed, answering the email, making the phone call, or doing something you normally wouldn’t think twice about can feel like a lot.

When you’re in that state, being told to “prioritize better” isn’t always helpful.

Sometimes you need to stop looking at everything in front of you and ask a much smaller question:

What’s the smallest, yet meaningful next step I can take?

That might mean handling something important at work. It might mean making the call you’ve been avoiding. Or it might simply mean putting your feet on the floor, taking a shower, eating something, or getting outside.

In this episode, I talk about why focusing on everything at once makes it easier to get stuck, how to narrow your focus when life feels overwhelming, and why small actions matter more than we give them credit for.

You don’t have to solve everything today.

Figure out the next meaningful thing you can do. Do that. Then let it stack.

About a year and half ago I sat in @coach_brettb backyard. He described his vision to me of what this building would look like, what it would have and who would fill it. It felt like a very Walt Disney moment if you are familiar with that story. Picturing a physical place with amazing people before it existed. This weekend I walked back into the same backyard to this physical building with incredible people that flew from all over North America to be there.

I wish I had a picture of every speaker to pay homage to their preparation, message and insight. There was something from every one of you that I get to take back to Canada. So thank you.

@julietstarrett - business and life with your spouse, credit loud and credit it often
@missymmcbeth - Sanity tactics, there is a cost to authenticity
@physio_elis @rehab_code - purpose after a career pinnacle, true closure is something you may never get
@jenwiderstrom - go through your origin story, your valleys build toward your mountain.
@askjeevers - no such thing as thinking the “right” way, think like you.
@thereadystate - stop driving with your check engine light on
@jasonleydon - audit what you are tied to that could disappear the fastest
@coach_brettb @aocoaching - a brand is just who you really are.
@mountaineeringa - you can’t always count on me because I can’t always be available
@fingermash - we add to know, we subtract to understand

This wasn’t about how to be a better coach, employee or business owner. It was about what to do when life happens through people’s stories of their success, failures and everything in between. It wasn’t just about the great speakers, but also the people there listening, the conversations on breaks, over meals, in the hot tub and basking in the Phoenix sun 🥵

What a memorable and great weekend! by @aocoaching

There is no escaping 😈

This is a good thing. We have to quit demonizing things that we all deal with in the sense of acting like something is “wrong” if we doubt ourselves or struggle with internal conflict.

Use it as a fuel source. It’s endlessly renewable and more sustainable than you think.

Why? Because it’s human. It’s innate. And it can be channeled for good.

More context coming.

Knowing what to do is easy. Getting people to buy in is the hard part. 🎯

Whether you lead a team, a classroom, a business, or a locker room, how you communicate decides whether people follow you or tune you out. And almost nobody is ever actually taught how to do it.

That’s why I’m bringing The Apprenticeship by Brett Bartholomew and Art of Coaching to Long Island. 🚨
This isn’t a lecture where you sit and take notes. It’s 2 days of small-group, hands-on training where you’ll:

🔴 Practice tactical improv so you can think on your feet with any personality

🔴 Role-play the tough conversations you usually avoid

🔴 Get filmed and receive peer feedback so you see how you actually come across

🔴 Work through real-world case studies you can use at work on Monday

Built for coaches, managers, teachers, healthcare professionals, business owners, and anyone who leads people.

📅 February 20-21, 2027

📍 Victory Sports Performance, Greenlawn/Northport, NY

⏳ Early bird pricing is available for a limited time, and seats are limited.

I’m not going to oversell this. We never have. But the room is almost set, and once it is, that’s it.

Professionals from 20+ fields, talking about managing people, running a business, reinventing yourself, keeping your marriage intact, and not burning out while you help everyone else. The stuff nobody puts on a slide.

Two days in Phoenix. Last chance.

“Leadership isn’t for me.  I’m naturally introverted, quiet, and shy - no one would ever listen to me.”

Although this isn’t a direct quote, it’s a common excuse we hear from coaches, leaders, and business owners alike as to why they can’t (or won’t) lead or have the impact they want on those around them.  And to put it bluntly, this topic doesn’t get the amount of discussion it deserves.

That’s why in today’s episode Victor Hall, VP of Operations at EXOS, provides insight on his own experience pursuing impactful leadership as an introvert.  Together, we explore how to influence others, navigate different conversational styles and break through the barriers of shyness.

Victor Hall has spent over 20 years training athletes, leading performance teams, and educating fellow coaches and trainers. During that time, he has worked within collegiate, private facilities, and military environments. Victor joined EXOS in 2010 as a Performance Manager of a Human Performance Program for the Department of Defense, and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations at EXOS.

We cover a few key components that make up this pursuit of effective leadership, including:
- The secrets of making an impact as an introvert
- How self awareness contributes to leadership and creating a lasting impact
- Where his natural tendencies haven’t served him in the past
What he does to embrace authenticity instead of trying to “fix” himself
