🤖 HUMANOID: FALL FLAT | OCT 18 • Brooklyn
Open Call + Showcase + Anniversary Party

Humanoid: Fall Flat takes its name from the viral party game Human: Fall Flat, carrying its spirit of clumsiness, unpredictability, and play into an evening of goofs and mayhem.

Artists are invited to use robotic failures, glitches, malfunctions, and breakdowns as raw material to question, poke fun at, and examine the rise of humanoid robots and our emerging relationship with them.

Join us at Hex House for a showcase, short artist talks, audience voting and awards, followed by music, drinks, and mingling as we celebrate 4 years of @uaad.art and 3 years of @creativecodingnyc ! 🎂

There are 3 ways to participate:

1️⃣ SHOWCASE A PIECE

Submit an existing work or make something new. Robot imitations, found-footage projects, unruly simulations, video, animation, movement, creative coding, sound, and other experiments are all welcome. It doesn’t have to be polished.

2️⃣ GIVE A 5–10 MINUTE TALK

Share a project, body of work, or creative process related to humanoids and our evolving relationship with them.

3️⃣ CONTRIBUTE TO THE PRIZE POOL

Donate an item, event tickets, or something else! Contributions will go toward the night’s 🏆 awards and 🎁 raffle. To donate a prize, DM @uaad.art.

My sonic take on the gorgeous golden dragon spell sequence from Witch Hat Atelier! All sounds by me

I absolutely love the soundtrack in the show and felt super inspired when I saw the scene, the original is so powerful. This is how I imagine it'd sound with no score

The hardest part was making the dragon roars-- I used a ton of layers of rooster, horse, tiger, dog and pig sounds with loads of processing to get it sounding right

Shouts to the pals who gave me notes on earlier drafts! Almost 300 individual sound clips later, I'm so proud of how this one turned out :) taken in Brooklyn, New York by @aotustudios

I voiced Chihiro for my full sound and music redesign of Haku's transformation from Spirited Away (2001). Such a magical moment! I shaped my recordings with pitch and formant processing, no gen AI anywhere in the chain. How'd I do? Can you tell it's me?
