They say you can’t see the same city twice. Turns out, you just need a camera and a little bit of rain to find a whole new world.

Having a camera really does help you to avoid seeing the world the same way twice.

What an eventful evening…

After carefully planning what I thought was going to be the perfect location, I arrived, set everything up… and then realised I’d forgotten my memory cards. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I was far too far from home to go back for them, so I genuinely thought that was the evening over before it had even started.

Then a complete stranger stepped in and simply gave me one of his spare memory cards.

No fuss. No expectation. Just a genuinely kind thing to do for someone he’d never met.

The eclipse itself was incredible, but that small act of kindness somehow made the whole evening feel even more special.

So, to the gentleman who helped me out , thank you. You absolutely saved the evening.

There really are some amazing people out there.

Anyway… crisis averted. Memory card inserted. Eclipse photographed. 😂

Hope you like the shots.

I was recently asked to put together a collection of the photographs I’m most proud of.

It made me realise something I’d never really thought about before. I’m proud of different photographs for completely different reasons.

Ironically, the images I’m proudest of aren’t necessarily my best. Most of them are of my little boy, who, if you didn’t already know, is my absolute world. 🌍

From a London street photography perspective though, these are my top 20.

What do you think? Have I left any obvious favourites out? And one question for the purists… do these actually qualify as street photography?

Shooting with a 9mm was something I have wanted to try for a while. Loved a day in the London sun shooting some unique perspectives

Any favourite?

Realising that Depth can be created in photography in lots of different ways was an important step in my journey:

I’ve realised it can help:
1. Lead the viewers eye and creates a visual journey. Instead of the eye bouncing around randomly, it naturally moves through the image.

2. It creates a sense of place - Without depth, even iconic locations can look like postcards. With depth, they feel real

3. It emphasises scale - Depth helps show how large or small something is.

4. It adds emotion and storytelling - Depth creates relationships between subjects and places….like the two friends or couple adding depth to Big Ben. It creates an emotional connection or makes you ask questions….

How do you create depth?

There’s something incredibly satisfying about a clean long exposure shot.

I love shooting long exposures in London, especially when using the iconic red buses as the subject. The movement, the light and the chaos of the city somehow come together for a split second perfectly.

Massive thanks to @kfconcept for sending over their Nano-Xcel Pro Series Variable ND. It was the perfect companion for these images and will definitely have a permanent place in my camera bag. The quality is seriously impressive.

Still not fully out of that creative slump if I’m honest…but hey ho 🤷🏻‍♂️…….

Maybe the problem isn’t that the photos are bad.
It’s that you’ve stared at your own work for so long that you stop seeing it properly.

I think I’ve become obsessed with what could’ve been better:
the light,
the timing,
the edit,
the composition,
the fact someone walked half a step too far left.

So here’s another set that nearly stayed buried in Lightroom.
Dark tones, silhouettes, reflections, bits of London disappearing into shadow… probably a little moodier than necessary, but apparently that’s where my head’s at creatively right now.

‘The moment you stop trying to fit into a box is the moment your best work begins’

London street photography is a playground with no rules. It’s an endless spectrum…..from those quiet, split second candid moments on a street corner to the high speed, rhythmic blur of the London Underground

📸 Which vibe do you prefer?
1. The Urban Commute
2. The Underground Blur

Been really struggling to post recently.

One of those phases where you look through your camera roll and genuinely hate almost everything you’ve taken. Nothing feels good enough. Every edit feels forced. Every composition feels like you’ve already done it before.

Think when you do photography long enough, your eye starts improving faster than your confidence does…which is a frustrating combination.

So instead of overthinking it any more, here’s a few frames from London that I nearly talked myself out of posting.

Maybe the answer is just to keep shooting anyway. 🤷🏻‍♂️
