DAY 1. November 27th. Mark the date.

Today marks the first day of training for my very first Muay Thai fight.

Now, you might be asking yourself, “Are you crazy? What if you get hurt? What if you lose?” And honestly, those are fair questions. But sometimes life isn’t about calculating every possible outcome. Sometimes it’s about stepping into an experience you’ve never had, accepting the uncertainty, and seeing what you’re capable of.

For me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For the people here, it’s a lifestyle. Something they’ve dedicated years of discipline, sacrifice, and passion toward. And there’s something incredibly humbling about being welcomed into a community where you’re surrounded by people who live and breathe something you’ve only just begun to understand.

I’ve already had friends express their concerns, worry about me getting hurt, and question whether I’m really going to do this. But alongside that concern has been encouragement, excitement, and support. That’s something I don’t take lightly.

And that’s what I want to document just as much as the fight itself. The people, the friendships, the lessons, the exhaustion, the bruises, the laughter, and everything that happens between now and November 27th.

Win or lose, I’ll walk away with an experience, stories, and relationships that I wouldn’t have found sitting comfortably on the sidelines.

So here’s the beginning of the journey. First day in the gym, first step toward the ring.

November 27th. Let’s see what happens. 🥊

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” I’ve come to believe there’s a little more truth to that than we sometimes realize. Knowledge, education, and experience can take you far, but the relationships you cultivate along the way can take you places you never imagined.

Think about how extraordinary it is that somewhere in the world, there’s someone you’ve never met who shares a dream similar to yours, has overcome a hardship you understand, or possesses a skill that could change the direction of your life. Different countries, different languages, different upbringings, yet somehow our stories and aspirations intersect. Sometimes a stranger becomes a friend, a friend becomes family, and a conversation becomes the beginning of something neither person could have created alone.

I’ve started to realize that life isn’t simply about how far you can go by yourself, but how many people you can bring along as you go. There is no shortage of room for others to succeed. Someone else’s accomplishments don’t take away from your own; if anything, witnessing another person reach their dreams should remind us of what’s possible for ourselves.

Every person we meet carries an entire world of experiences, knowledge, connections, and possibilities that we may never have considered. When we approach people with genuine curiosity, generosity, and an open mind, we’re not simply expanding our own horizons. We’re creating a community that extends beyond borders, cultures, and circumstances.

So to all my friends scattered across the world, keep meeting people, keep sharing your stories, keep celebrating one another, and never underestimate the impact of a genuine connection. You may be the person who helps someone else get one step closer to their dream, just as someone you haven’t met yet may help you get closer to yours.

Perhaps that’s one of the beautiful things about being human: we were never meant to experience everything alone.

Build relationships without keeping score. Celebrate without comparison. Plant seeds without expecting to harvest them. Give to give, not give to get.

When you finally succeed in life, when the dreams, desires, and visions you’ve carried since childhood become your reality, don’t be surprised when I’m ecstatic, cheering you on from the sidelines and shouting your name louder than anyone else. Because long before your dreams became something the world could physically see, I believed in the unseen reality you carried within you.

I see it in the way you speak about the things you want to accomplish, in the way you express your dreams with the same childlike wonder, curiosity, and excitement that so many people lose as they grow older. Never lose that part of yourself.

I’m proud of you for waking up every single day and continuing to move forward, even through the days that felt impossible, the difficult weeks, the exhausting months, and perhaps even the years when you questioned whether any of it would come together. Yet here you are.

I hope you take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve traveled, how much you’ve overcome, and the position you’re standing in today. If you’re not where you want to be yet, don’t worry. Keep going. We’ll get there. And if you are finally experiencing the harvest of everything you’ve worked so hard to cultivate, take a moment to enjoy it. But never stop planting seeds.

Because the greatest harvest isn’t only what you accomplish for yourself. It’s also what continues to grow in the lives of the people you’ve crossed paths with, encouraged, supported, and helped along the way.

May you achieve every dream you’ve ever envisioned for yourself while becoming someone who helps others believe that their dreams are possible, too.

🌸 Ladies traveling through Chiang Mai, here’s a little place worth knowing about!

A new women-only hostel has opened just outside the Old City, conveniently located at the corner of Kotchasarn Road and Si Don Chai Road.

It’s run by a lovely woman with the sweetest little four-legged assistant 🐶, creating a welcoming atmosphere for women exploring Chiang Mai.

There are private single-bed rooms as well as two-bed rooms available. If you’re traveling with a friend or prefer a little extra space, the two beds can also be pushed together.

If you’re planning a visit, currently staying in Chiang Mai, or looking for somewhere comfortable to call home during your travels, feel free to shoot me a message and I’ll connect you with more information!

Big respect to Freddy for stepping into the ring and putting on a fight! 🥊 Not every fight ends the way we hope, but every experience brings lessons that help us grow and become better. The work continues, and there’s always more to learn. Keep pushing forward, Freddy! 🙏🏼
