Monday (bird) Gang’s first flight x by @apaintedmouse

Herring, a tuna and a pair of petrels from my book with @matt_whyman that accompanied the Netflix series, Our Planet which was published around this time seven years ago. These have been some of my most viewed pics on here, I’m not sure why. Probably best not to try and understand Instagram… by @apaintedmouse

I chanced upon this gem by Tomie de Paola, 1981. I’m not sure I can imagine a more perfect little book so I’m inspired and disheartened in equal measure. #tomiedepaola by @apaintedmouse

Born in Warwickshire, Richard Jones has been living and working in Devon for over 20 years.

After graduating from the University of Plymouth with a first class degree in Graphic Design and Illustration, he stayed on a little longer to complete a PhD. Richard’s style is something different, working with beautifully layered textures, he creates stand-out illustration, with a gentle, muted palette and memorable character design.

‘A wisp of silence drifted between them…’ Sometimes it Rains by @rachelbrightbooks and me is out today! It’s an incredible story and it’s been an incredible journey to bring it to life. Every page was crafted and shaped, pushed and pulled until it was the perfect fit. Here’s the evolution of just one of them from first sketch to finished spread. So much of the credit must go to @goldy.broad.design who knew exactly what to say and do and when to say and do it! Sometimes it Rains is available from today with the wonderful @hachettechildrens x by @apaintedmouse
