I did an activity inspired by Qoblot Story Kit's, Mood Discs yesterday, and the prompt was:

How does your space make you feel?

It ties directly to our World building session this Sunday for ages 7-9 because we'll explore how we feel in the space that we've created in our story and take ideas from our real world spaces.

My office space is very special to me, here's where I write stories, conduct sessions and meetings, make characters and props! The moment I enter my space, I feel a sense of calm and peace, the safety helps me to do creative and interesting things for kids :)

Send us a DM if you'd like to attend the session this Sunday :) by @aparameter

Correction: 197 participants and not 179 :))

Stories can give children a space to explore emotions, perspectives and choices.

A 2026 study of 197 children aged 7 to 9 found that children who took part in storytelling, creative activities and reflection showed greater gains in emotion comprehension than the control group.

This is the idea behind Qoblot too: giving children stories where they can see, feel, think and choose.

Let's get to know our characters 😁

Nini is such an interesting one, she is wise, a problem solver and very analytical with her approach, she cannot express her emotions with facial expressions, so we've added emotion bubbles, an attempt to represent Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC).

She has the most dramatic and detailed emotions because what she feels is really complex. We'd like children to learn the vocabulary of her emotions and express themselves confidently, without any shame. by @aparameter

The reason why I look tired is because I felt really NERVOUS yesterday!

When we feel nervous, the brain’s amygdala detects that something important or potentially threatening is happening and activates the body’s fight-or-flight response.

Adrenaline is released, making our heart beat faster, breathing quicker, muscles tense, and palms sweaty.

At the same time, our attention becomes more focused on what might go wrong, and if the nervousness becomes intense, the brain’s thinking and memory systems can temporarily become less efficient, which is why we sometimes forget things we actually know when we’re nervous. by @aparameter

Comment INTERESTED to know more about the Qoblot Story Kit

Putting a feeling into words can reduce the intensity of the emotional response by helping the brain move from a more reactive state toward conscious processing and regulation.

This process, often called “affect labeling,” helps children build emotional awareness, strengthen their vocabulary for feelings, and gradually develop the ability to pause, understand what they’re experiencing, and choose how to respond rather than simply being overwhelmed by the emotion. by @aparameter

Mood Discs are a part of our upcoming story kit: Journey to the land of Tiddledoo (Ages 7+)
Stay tuned!

When we name an emotion, especially with children, we help the brain move from simply feeling an emotion to understanding and regulating it.

Putting feelings into words “You’re frustrated because you lost your toy” can reduce emotional intensity, strengthen emotional vocabulary, and help children connect what they feel → why they feel it → what they can do next.

This process, often called AFFECT LABELING, is associated with reduced emotional reactivity and greater self-regulation.

For young children, repeatedly naming emotions also builds the foundation for emotional awareness, communication, empathy, and social-emotional learning. taken in India by @aparameter
