“ISLAND OF DEMONS” - color pencil on multimedia paper, 7x10 inA skinned man wields an ancient blade- the Dragon Slayer. He heads towards a building that lies upon an island, where individuals have committed heinous crimes against children and humanity. He has a single goal: send them straight to hell. Sometimes when I feel hopeless about something, I find it difficult to simply stop caring. So, I turn to my sketchbooku. It’s just become a way to internalize some of the disturbing realities of this world. Here’s how I found my calling.👇For me, it revolved around illustration. As a child, I’d spend hours drawing things I found cool, like race cars and robots. But as I got older, that ‘inner light’ was drowned out by school, work, and the world around me. This is how I used Robert Greene’s steps to find my way back to art and creativity: I. Tap into your uniqueness: I had to realize my obsession with drawing wasn’t just a hobby—it was my “seed.” Reconnect with what you loved before the world told you what to be 🌱II. Find your “brain grain”: I stopped trying to fit into academic boxes and embraced my visual intelligence. Find where your brain naturally leans and go with it 🧠III. Silence the noise: I had to mute the expectations of others to hear my own frequency again. Art was calling, I just had to listen to the “safe” paths less. If needed do both! Ensure your professional life is stable, while making space for your creativity to flourish ⚖️IV. Emotional engagement: When I’m working with a canvas, I learn faster. If you’re emotionally connected, you find the discipline to push through the harder parts ❤️‍🔥V. Be an archaeologist: I started digging through my childhood memories for clues. Finding of my old artwork brought it all back. My love for art was always there- I just had to uncover it 🪏Finding your purpose isn’t a formula.
