Is Acela First Class worth it for the FOOD? This is my Acela First Class Review.
I took the new NextGen Acela First Class from NY to DC, and then back to NY and tested the Acela food options including dishes by Chef Stephen Starr.
Hot breakfast, coffee,Metropolitan Lounge access, and the widest train seat I’ve ever had. We tried the fruit plate with chia coconut pudding and the Gruyere omelette served with potatoes. Bloody Marys seemed like a popular choice, but we really enjoyed the cold brew. I thought the food quality was slightly better than airplane food and it was certainly an enjoyable way to pass the time. All without setting foot in an airport.
The Acela train route goes from Boston to Washington DC and is great option if you enjoy luxury train travel. One of my favorite Acela First Class amenities is access to the Metropolitan Lounge. The DC Lounge could definitely use an update, but a staff member escorts passengers from the lounge right to the train. We really appreciated this service. The NY lounge was far nicer with complimentary cold breakfast and lunch served. This was also a nice perk.

Save this for your next Northeast trip! Would you do train > plane?

Just had some of the best Mediterranean food in NYC at @ulivonyc .

We started with the Zucchini Fritte and the Carciofi e Avocado — both such fresh, perfect starters.

We also tried some of Ulivo’s pasta dishes:
Calamarata Calamari & Carciofi — that creamy zucchini sauce was UNREAL, I could have eaten it with a spoon.
Rigatoni alla Norma — the house-made rigatoni is incredible. You can taste the difference.
Gnocchi di Patate al Ragu di Vitello — our favorite dish on the Ulivo NYC menu. Pillowy gnocchi + rich veal ragu = pure comfort.

📍4 W. 28th St., near Madison Square Garden

If you’re looking for outstanding, authentic Italian in NYC, add Ulivo to your list. We will be back! For convenient Ulivo restaurant reservations use @resy .

Black Sesame Tofu appetizer- our family tofu lover adored this one.
🍚 Vegetable Bibimbap & Beef Bibimbap - this vegetable bibimbap was the best one I’ve ever tried.
🍜Beef Bulgogi Hot Pot - the noodles were incredible.
This one is one of the best NYC Korean restaurant options.
Have you been? What’s your go-to Korean order?

Your fall drink is missing one thing. 👇
These Easy Apple Cider Floats are creamy, fizzy, caramel-drizzled fall in a glass — but they’re SO much better with one bite of a brownie in between sips.
I paired this fall drink recipe with brownies from my David’s Cookies Assorted Brownies Tin and it’s the perfect afternoon treat combo. Fudgy, chocolatey, bakery-fresh brownies that make a simple drink feel like dessert hour.

#ad My Caramel Apple Cider Floats + @davidscookies brownies = your new fall ritual. Recipe below!

RECIPE: Caramel Apple Cider Floats
[makes 2]
2 cups apple cider, chilled
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
A sprinkle of cinnamon
Caramel sauce

Add cider to glasses, top with ice cream, cinnamon , and a generous drizzle of caramel. Serve immediately with David’s Cookies brownies.

Looking for an upscale dinner in NYC?

I went to Twin Tails NYC so you know what’s worth ordering! This Thai and Vietnamese fusion restaurant is serving up some seriously delicious dishes. Chef Craig Koketsu’s dishes are light and memorable. My favorite dishes were the:

Crispy Garlic Shrimp
Chicken Pad Kra Pao
Pistachio- Pandan Soufflé

The other soufflé dessert options are Vietnamese Mocha, Coconut Red Curry, and Passionfruit.

If you’re planning your next NYC dinner reservation, add Twin Tails to your list. They are conveniently located @theshopsatcolumbuscircle . And, we really enjoyed Twin Tails’ Central Park Views and retro futuristic restaurant design.

Craving a fun drink but don’t want to go out? Try my Fall Apple chai recipe and Make this Iced Apple Honey Chai at home instead ✨
#ad I used the West Cape Chai from my @tearunners subscription box and it is PERFECT for this homemade apple chai tea. This honey and apple chai is warm and spicy and cozy, but when you ice it with fresh apples and honey it becomes the most refreshing fall drink. This is my favorite apple chai drink recipe.

Iced Apple Honey Chai
1. Brew 4 cups of West Cape Chai tea (I do 4 tsp. loose leaf in 4 cups of hot water for 5 minutes). Add a cup of chopped apples + a drizzle of honey and let it cool completely
3. Pour over ice with more chopped apples.
4. Add a splash of milk if you want it creamy!

Sweet, spiced, and so easy. You have to try this spiced apple chai tea.

Have you tried making chai iced before?

Shop my favorite teas at Tea Runners- see the link in my bio.

Tender, braised & shredded chicken simmered in a rich chipotle sauce 🌽🔥
These Chicken and Roasted Corn Tostadas are layered with charred roasted corn, creamy chipotle lime sauce, queso fresco, tangy pickled onions, and avocado.
Smoky, creamy, a little spicy, totally addictive. You’re going to want to make extra.

Save this one for Taco Tuesday.

If you’re looking for a quick, restaurant-quality dinner you can make in under 30 minutes, try this Fettuccine with Pistachio Pesto and Burrata.

Creamy, nutty pistachio pesto tossed with silky fettuccine and finished with that perfect, melty burrata pull — it looks fancy but it comes together faster than delivery.
I make the pesto with toasted pistachios, fresh basil, parmesan, garlic and good olive oil, then tear the burrata right over the top so it gets all creamy into the warm pasta. The crunch + cream combo is unreal.

For the Pesto:
* ¼ cup shelled pistachios
* 2 cups basil leaves
* ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil
* 1 tbsp. crushed garlic
* ½ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
* 2 tbsp. pasta water
* ½ tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
* ½ tsp. sea salt flakes

Save this one for your next pasta night.
Full recipe is in comments.

Would you try it with pistachios or stick with pine nuts? Let me know below!

Your new favorite bowl has entered the chat.
My Chicken and Corn Rice Bowls have it all — juicy pan-seared chicken, sweet roasted corn, fluffy cilantro-lime rice, fresh cherry tomatoes + cucumbers, and that smoky chipotle-lime vinaigrette that ties everything together.
It’s colorful, fresh, a little smoky, and perfect for meal prep or an easy weeknight dinner.

What would you add to your bowl?
