At our space in Athens, Guest #1 Sadie Coles HQ group exhibition includes works by Daniel Sinsel’s (b. 1976, Munich). His paintings and sculptures combine various materials and styles to explore themes of space, volume and illusion. Built up using multiple layers of oil paint, the work has a surrealist quality, exploring themes of space through trompe l’oeil illusion to circumvent and reinvent classical motifs and the still life genre.

Daniel Sinsel was born in Germany in 1976 and now lives and works in London. He studied for his foundation course and BA in painting at Chelsea College of Art and Design and went on to complete an MA in painting at the Royal College of Art in 2004. He was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries in 2002. He has exhibited internationally with solo exhibitions including those at the Chisenhale Gallery, London, 2011, Office Baroque Gallery, Antwerp, 2011, Galerie Micky Schubert, Berlin, 2009, and Sadie Coles HQ, London, 2022. Recent group exhibitions include CLOUD, Foxy Production, New York, 2011, Jerwood Contemporary Painters, Jerwood Space, London, 2010, The Concrete Show, Galeria Franco Noero, _Turin, _2010, Nus, Nudes, Galeria Fortes Vilaca, Sao Paulo, 2009, and Compass in Hand: Selections from the Judith Rothschild Foundation Collection of Contemporary Drawing, MoMA, New York, 2009. A monograph was published on Sinsel’s work by Sadie Coles HQ and Mousse Publishing in 2011.

At our space in Athens, Guest #1: Sadie Coles HQ group exhibition includes works by Ugo Rondinone (b. 1964, Brunnen). Rondinone is recognised as one of the major voices of his generation, an artist who composes searing meditations on nature and the human condition while establishing an organic formal vocabulary that fuses a variety of sculptural and painterly traditions. Rondinone’s latest series of lake paintings reflects his enduring exploration of the natural world, as a constant source of restoration and renewal; the sacred and the everyday exist in harmony though his landscapes, depicting changing colours cast across an expanse of water, a trio of mountains and an open sky in varying shades of blue. Heavily influenced by the German Romantic movement, his work serves as a meditation on nature and the human condition.
Rondinone views art-making as a deeply spiritual, meditative ritual.

Rondinone officially represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and has had solo exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Whitechapel Gallery in London, Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai l, Kunstmuseum Luzern and the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens.

At our space in Athens, Guest #1 Sadie Coles HQ group exhibition includes works by one of America’s foremost artists working today, Richard Prince (b. 1949, Panama Canal Zone) recognised for his progressive and incisive use of appropriation –encompassing imagery and text drawn from advertisements, comics and mass-media – which he deploys conceptually as a means to unpick, critique and parody the cultural landscape of modern America. In the recent two paintings, which expand his iconic Joke Paintings series, Prince replicates the jokes of Rodney Dangerfield (1921-2004), the renowned American stand-up comedian best known for disarming one-liners that captured an everyman humour in the banal or a self-deprecating loss of face.
Prince’s works expose the inherent racism, sexism, and social anxieties buried within mainstream humor.
His work has been exhibited at major institutions globally, including extensive retrospectives at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art
Current institutionional shows
Richard Prince Retrospective at the Albertina Museum, Vienna (April 17 – August 16, 2026): A massive career retrospective featuring roughly 150 works. It heavily emphasises his photographic oeuvre from the 1970s to the present, focusing on foundational series like Fashion, Gangs, and Cowboys.
Helter Skelter: Arthur Jafa and Richard Prince at Fondazione Prada, Venice (May 9 – November 23, 2026): A curated dual-solo dialogue pairing Prince with filmmaker Arthur Jafa. Curated by Nancy Spector, the exhibition explores their shared ethos of image manipulation, lawless appropriation, and the perversions of American pop culture

At our space in Athens, Guest 1 : Sadie Coles HQ exhibition. Nabuqi’s (b. 1984, Inner Mongolia) practice investigates our perceptions of reality, questioning the psychological nature of human engagement with objects and materials. The bronze sculptures presented by the artist experiment with spatial politics, disrupting established perceptions and transformingfamiliar motifs of nature and landscape. Her work has been included at the 58th Venice Biennale (2019), the Gwangju Biennale (2016), the Shanghai Biennale (2016) and The First Diriyah Biennial” (2021)

“I'm kind of settled into an explanation of, it's a child misunderstanding sex, or a child misunderstanding experience, and adulthood, and misunderstanding what he's looking at. And I think it's also an image of an adult misunderstanding childhood. They're both looking, regarding each other and misunderstanding it, or the impossibility of really understanding it.”

At our space in Athens, Guest 1 : Sadie Coles HQ exhibition. John Currin (b. 1962, Boulder) is widely recognised for his figurative oil paintings that subvert the genre of history painting by depicting sexual personae that appear in surreal and at times, disconcerting guises. Oscillating between a graphic sexuality and playful symbolism, Currin captures tones and textures with an acute sensitivity and a meticulous attention to detail. In his recent work, the gold-gilded frame depicts a pair of female figures, a modestly dressed protagonist is accompanied by her partially nude counterpart.

Alvaro Barrington

At our space in Athens, Guest 1 : Sadie Coles HQ exhibition. Alvaro Barrington (b. 1983) depicts his impression of sunsets setting over the Caribbean Sea in a new series of paintings. Bringing together an array of art historical references, including J.M.W. Turner, Mark Rothko, Etel Adnan, Claude Monet, among others, these works encourage slow looking and contemplation. Alongside the Sunset paintings, the presentation also includes a group of works from the artist’s ‘Hibiscus’ series – a recurring motif that Barrington has often abstracted through gestural painting as a symbol for Caribbean celebration, sexuality, and cross-cultural exchange.
