Pretty sure this is one school year we’ll never stop talking about. 💙

From living with classmates from around the world to sailing across oceans, exploring new places, learning new skills, and all the random little moments in between.

It’s the everyday stuff too. Late-night conversations, laughing with friends, helping each other out, and figuring things out together aboard Sørlandet.

And somehow, all of this is part of our high school experience.

10 months. A whole lot of stories to tell. ✨🌎

Why do we choose to do things that challenge us? 🤔

During our Port Quest in Santiago de Compostela, we explored that question by meeting people walking the Camino de Santiago and hearing the stories, motivations, and experiences behind their journeys.

And it got us thinking about our own journey aboard Sørlandet.

Why did we choose to leave home and spend a year sailing, living, and studying around the world? What are we learning about ourselves along the way?

From stepping outside our comfort zones to connecting with people from different backgrounds, asking questions, and reflecting on what matters to us, this is all part of learning at A+.

Because sometimes, the lessons that make you think the most happen outside the classroom.

Living is learning. 💙

Some experiences are just worth saying yes to. 💙

Imagine spending a whole school year living with 71 other students from around the world, sailing to new places, learning new skills, and making memories with people who started as strangers.

And the best part? You’re still doing high school, earning credits, and learning a lot about yourself along the way.

One school year. So many stories to tell.

Because yes… this is actually high school. ⛵🌍

Here at A+, you can spend your school year living and studying aboard a nearly 100-year-old tall ship, learning to sail, exploring ports around the world, and sharing everyday life with students from different countries.

There are still classes, assignments, and high school credits, but there’s also watch, galley duties, maritime training, new places, and a whole ship full of experiences in between.

High school can look like this too. 💙

Saint-Malo Port Quest diaries 🇫🇷

This one had us learning about history in a completely different way.

While in France, we visited the beaches of Normandy and the Caen Memorial Museum, learning more about World War II in the actual places where so much of that history happened.

It’s one thing to read about these events in class.

It’s another to stand there, see the places for yourself, and really think about the people, choices, and stories behind what happened.

Definitely one of those Port Quests that stays with you long after you’re back aboard. 💙

High school can look different for everyone.

At A+, it means doing your classes and earning high school credits while calling a nearly 100-year-old tall ship home.

One day you’re studying in Banjer. The next, you’re on watch, helping in the galley, learning to sail, or arriving at a new port with your classmates.

Same high school year. A different way to experience them. 💙

Imagine saying, “Yeah! I did that in high school! 💙”

Maybe it’s climbing the rig for the first time. Standing watch. Living with classmates from around the world.
Or realizing you can handle something that once felt completely new.

At A+, high school is still about learning, but a lot of that learning happens through actually doing, trying, and figuring things out along the way.

You might just have a few “Wait… I actually did that?” moments. 💙

How cool is that!

We study here. We eat together here. We do watch, help in the galley, hang out after class, and wake up somewhere new along the way.

A+ isn’t just where we go to school, it’s where everyday life happens with 71 other students from around the world.

And somehow, this becomes home. 🌍

Classes in Banjer, time on deck, galley duties, watch, studying, and hanging out with friends in between.

It’s not always about the big adventures or the next port. A lot of the A+ experience is simply learning, living, and figuring things out together aboard Sørlandet. 💙

The everyday moments are part of the experience too.
