🌱 Our young leaders can look at a textbook and hear the abstraction of photosynthesis…

🪴 Or they can get their hands dirty by experiencing how to plant, support and create life!

To each their own, but at Apogee, we choose the latter!

P.S. the Apogee young leaders are the janitors, cleaning their work space to develop personal responsibility and ownership to carry with them for life and pass on to their future generations!

Glimpse of our 1st day at Apogee HoCo

The wonder, curiosity and excitement is infectious with these young leaders.

The journey has just begun and we sense there is something special about our tribe of mixed age learners!

It’s not IF, but WHEN there is conflict and disagreement, our coaches help our young leaders build the skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives.

Most of the time it’s a simple misunderstanding or miscommunication and we guide them through the process.

🛑 Stop
🗣️ Speak up and advocate - share your view
👂 Listen to understand
🤝 Offer solutions
🤗 Repair and reconnect

They are young leaders, not because, “everybody gets to be a leader”, but because everybody must lead themselves first.

A supportive coach to guide them through emotional situations helps build confidence by gaining skills and mutual respect in relationships.

🚀 Launching into this week like Michael Jordan

😅 + ☀️ + 💡 = 🎯

🏞️ We prioritize and protect time for our young leaders to be outside in nature on this great farm.

😊 Knowing they have this time each day to run, play and create, reduces stress, increases dopamine and builds connection in their relationships.

What were your favorite outdoor activities as a kid?

What do your kids enjoy doing now?

📚Apogee young leaders are getting after their academics

AND

💡Going hard on free play, curiosity and exploration

It’s not either or, but applying through real world experience is 💯

Telling stories about the 🐸, 🦞 and 🐟

Calculating how many they found and how many are in the creek based on length and area they searched.

🚀 And when it’s theirs to own, there is no stopping them!

Warriors are not only physically strong, but critical thinkers and problem solvers

Thank you to @wayofthewarriorkid for guiding our young leaders and follow Marc on his process goals! by @apogeehoco

🛡️ Building culture and name your code

🤔 What is a warrior? One physically strong? One who thinks critically? Are they mutually exclusive?

🧐 What makes a good team, good teammates, good friends? Challenging or always easy? Critical or encouraging? Loyal or wishy washy?

Some of the questions our young leaders have been wrestling with for what they prefer for a team, a group, friends and to start understanding their code.

If you know information, but don’t know yourself or your values to filter the information, that’s a big problem.

No right answers as we coach them socratically to dive deeper and understand what they believe and why.

💯 How to think -> what to think

😅 Creek Play… Every Day 💦

🐸 named “Hippity Hoppy” because he’s got hops
🐢 named “Shy Guy” because he’s a little shy hiding his head inside his shell
🦞 Sighting that looked like a lobster

And that’s how our students close out each day - with ownership

Responsibilities:

⚙️ Break down tables
🪑 Organize chairs
🧼 Clean bathroom
🗑️ Take out the trash

A few snippets from our first week at @maryslandfarm

Body 😅 - Mind 🧠 - Heart ❤️

☀️ We start the day outside moving our bodies through exercise, play and challenges.

🐢 We found a baby turtle, named “Shy Guy”, who became mascot for a day.

😁 moving the body helps blood flow, creativity, focus and opens up the mind for academic work

❤️ We share stories to make projects come to life and connect us in our shared space as a team.

We are studying the Bushido Code and reading Way of the Warrior Kid to decide on values for campus and that our young leaders will adopt for their Personal Code.

And yes, every day ends with responsibilities like studio reset, taking out the trash and bathroom cleanup.

If you are curious about your family and child experiencing our environment, comment or DM APOGEE and we’ll connect to setup a call and trial day.
