It can be really scary when cat owners find themselves in this situation.

It’s been a few days and your cat has been making more frequent trips to the litter box, but you notice that you’re not needing to clean up the clumps of litter or maybe you see a droplet of blood. Sometimes these visits can be more vocal than others!

This can be a sign of a true medical emergency and your cat might be blocked.

We recommend visiting Apollo right when you begin noticing these symptoms so we can treat your pet as soon as possible and get them back to health!

A common pet myth is that dogs do this behavior to assert dominance (and to embarrass their pet owners), but it’s actually a way to expel excess energy as well as a useful means of communication between dogs.

Deworming your puppy is about more than just getting rid of worms.

We recently treated a 4-week-old puppy for intussusception which is a serious condition where part of the intestine slides into another. Intestinal parasites can be one of the underlying causes and, in severe cases, the affected bowel can lose its blood supply.

A good reminder: routine deworming is an important part of your puppy’s early care even if you don’t see any worms.

5 YEARS since we opened our doors @apollovets
What. An. Honor. It has been to serve the community and their pets. So many laughs, tears, hugs, relationships, pet hair, you name it.
Words cannot describe how amazing and difficult this journey has been but learning how to grow, serve, fall on our faces with grace, rejoice and sorrow over good and bad times, continues to be the reason we keep coming back.
What I can say about the group at Apollo; we don’t always get it right but I can tell you with 100% confidence, everyone cares so freaking deeply and always gives their best. That’s all I want out of a crew of people. Because what else is there.
🍻 to the next five years and beyond!

Did you know that your senior dog or cat can get a yearly screening ultrasound as part of their wellness care?

At Apollo Veterinary, we offer a brief senior ultrasound scan for just $105 that can be done as part of your pet’s annual wellness visit.

We take a look at several of the major abdominal organs to screen for changes that may not be obvious from the outside or even show up on routine blood work.

Blood work is incredibly important, but it doesn’t tell us everything. Ultrasound gives us a different kind of information by letting us actually look at the size, shape, and appearance of internal organs.

And sometimes, that helps us find changes earlier, when we may have more options to monitor, manage, or treat them.

It’s one more tool we can use alongside your senior pet’s exam and blood work to get a more complete picture of their health.

Ask one of our veterinarians whether a senior screening ultrasound makes sense for your dog or cat at their next wellness visit.

Senior pet? Ask us about the $105 senior screening ultrasound at your next checkup.

Save this for your pet’s next wellness visit and share it with a senior pet parent.

“You need to get your pet into surgery today.”

That’s a sentence no pet owner expects to hear.

A swallowed foreign object. A bleeding splenic mass. A blocked male cat. Sometimes things happen fast, and suddenly your dog or cat needs surgery today or within the next 24 hours.

If you find yourself in that situation, call us.

At Apollo Vet, our doctors are trained to triage urgent cases and manage a wide range of emergency surgical situations. Between our two locations and our full medical team, we do everything we can to accommodate same day or urgent surgeries when our schedule, staffing, and your pet’s medical needs allow.

We can’t guarantee that every emergency can be managed at Apollo, and there are situations where an emergency or specialty hospital is absolutely the right place for your pet. But when we’re open, we want our clients to know that the ER isn’t automatically the only option.

Even if you’re already at an emergency hospital and find out your pet needs surgery, you can always give us a call. We’ll review the situation and see whether our team can safely help.

Our goal is simple: when possible, keep your pet with the veterinary team you already know and trust. ❤️

📞 If your pet is facing an urgent surgical situation, call either Apollo Vet location so our team can help determine the best next step.

Save this so you know your options if you ever need them, and share it with another pet parent. 🐾
