Cordelia has earned a reputation for being a dog that doesn’t stray far from daddy and comes back when she’s asked. So today was her first trip to the trail with no leash…..
She did great and came back smiling and smelling like sage brush.
Super proud of this puppy! by @applesdad2020

Little hippo worked up the courage to go down the slide on the jungle gym that she’s been exploring.
Super proud of this little girl and all the independent things she’s been doing!
I’m pretty sure if she was a bit taller and had thumbs, she would just let herself out and go to the park… by @applesdad2020

Every one of our dogs has a unique rescue story.

This evening I was reflecting on how Sisu came into our lives three years ago.

She and her mate lived across the street and were both abused, often starved, tied to short ropes and left on a concrete slab in the Nevada heat. Often times with no access to water or even shade.

I can’t write all the details; but suffice it to say that after the 5th dealing with animal control and their lack of interest in helping these beautiful creatures; an opportunity presented itself for me to rescue the female.

We couldn’t get the male before the people were kicked out of the house; and hope every day that he’s safe somewhere.

We didn’t know her previous name but she was getting a new life and she deserved a new name.

Sisu is a Finnish concept meaning resilience, extreme bravery when facing adversity and it describes this beautiful girl perfectly.

And winter, snowy days are her favorite; especially around Christmas: so her middle name is Noel. Sisu Noel. by @applesdad2020

Little hippo 🦛 is becoming more and more adventurous… she’s been eyeing the slide for awhile now.; today she vaulted her tiny self up and let me fire off a few pictures before deciding to hop down and enjoy her proud moment!
She’s awesome. Very dangerous and vicious; but awesome…. by @applesdad2020

With each passing day; little Madeline displays more of her comedic personality and love for adventure. Today she stole her sister, Whinnie’s favorite toy and carried like it was her baby on her walk. Not gonna lie; I almost tripped twice from laughing and filming her antics…. by @applesdad2020

Madeline Minnie smiles BIG now when mommy pets her giant adorable head.
When I heard this song; I couldn’t help but wonder if our little baby was singing it in her head while she waited at the shelter…
We pray every day that all of them will also find forever homes… by @applesdad2020

Just wanted to show off my “vicious “ bully from the OC shelter. This little tank was created to bark at every passing car, savagely attack any sprinkler head and collect every ball and toy she can find.
She’s 43 lbs of solid muscle;?equipped with 3 1/2” legs and has the top speed of a wobbly gutter ball at your local bowling alley.
More than anything;this vicious little monster is a love bug who craves pets and belly rubs. Oh and duck jerky treats from Costco.
To all of you volunteers and advocates at the OC shelter, Madeline Minnie says hello and thank you for her first 3 weeks of freedom! by @applesdad2020

Time for a double hippo 🦛 walk. These two girls crack me up. Whinnie is doing a great job teaching Madeline how to behave on the leash and where the best potty soots are on new routes! by @applesdad2020
