I’m deeply humbled to be recognized as one of the 2026 Women Who Shape Santa Monica, presented by the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica.

To stand alongside such extraordinary women is truly meaningful:

✨ Carolyn Day – championing sustainability and community health through Growing Hope Garden
✨ Gleam Davis – a dedicated civic leader and past mayor whose service has shaped our city
✨ Dr. Monika White – a Holocaust survivor, trailblazer in eldercare, education, and advocacy for women and girls

Each of these women represents decades of impact, leadership, and commitment to building a stronger, more equitable Santa Monica.

As someone who has had the privilege of serving this community through voter education, advocacy, and civic engagement, this recognition is not just personal—it reflects the collective work of so many who believe in the power of community, access, and opportunity for all.

The Yellow Rose Award reminds us of the suffragists who fought tirelessly for the right to vote. I carry that legacy forward with purpose and responsibility.

💙🤍 My First Zeta Day on the Hill & Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference! 💙🤍

Washington, DC, you owe me NOTHING! 🔥

What an incredible few days of sisterhood, service, advocacy, leadership, and unforgettable experiences! My first Zeta Day on the Hill, alongside the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, was exactly what I needed to recharge my battery for the final 45 days leading up to November.

As a proud member of both Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), I was reminded that our collective power is rooted in showing up, building relationships, and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders.

From touring the halls of Congress and meeting with congressional leaders to sharing wonderfully brief moments with Sorors and changemakers, this experience was EPIC!

The Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference is truly a convergence of leaders from every level—community advocates, elected officials, organizational leaders, entrepreneurs, and emerging changemakers—all sharing space, exchanging ideas, and building relationships that extend far beyond Washington.

The mission remains clear: Continue to BE the change and the FORCE that drives inclusive leadership, intentional succession planning, and generational opportunity.

And because we know how to work hard AND celebrate hard, the experience became even more epic at the Black Party! Dru Hill brought the nostalgia, D-Nice brought the vibes, and the energy was EVERYTHING! 🔥🔥🔥

I'm returning home recharged, inspired, and ready for what's next. The work continues, the relationships deepen, and the mission grows stronger.

Sisterhood. Scholarship. Service. Advocacy. Legacy.

Yesterday was a day of sisterhood, empowerment, and community building. A few us from the LA Chapter of the National Association of Black Military Women gathered for a delicious brunch at M'Dears. Later in the afternoon, a few us, "Sisters-in-Arms," attended the "Museum of Black Women and Girls" pop -up at AC Bilbrew Library curated by the California Black Women's Collective Empowerment Institute. It was 🔥🔥🔥.

Thanks to the California Black Women's Collective, the pop-up museum capped off with a virtual conversation with internationally-renowned visual artist, Synthia Saint James. Known for her featureless art artistic work, Ms. Synthia shared her humble beginnings, inspiration for creating some of our most iconic art pieces such as the 1997 U.S. Postal Kwanzaa stamp, the book cover art for Terry McMillian's "Waiting to Exhale," and her upcoming coffee book. DreamCon wasn't just a convention—it was a glimpse into the future of work.

Gaming. Anime. Comics. Sports. Entertainment. Technology. Entrepreneurship.

Nearly 40,000 gathered as their authentic selves to learn, create, collaborate, and build community. Everyone was invited into the group chat. Family and loved ones showed even up to take part in the good vibes.

The best part? The conversations. Every voice mattered. Every perspective added value. That's how innovation happens.

I especially enjoyed hearing from Khleo Thomas on how to monetize content as DreamCon CFO Kendale King moderated insightful financial literacy conversations. Multi-hyphenate Roxxy Haze led a fireside chat with Emmy Award-winning creator Issa Rae, whose journey reminded us that building community and creating opportunity go hand-in-hand.

Shout-out to RDCWORLD and their team for leveling up year after year. I haven't experienced another convention where you walk away anticipating the next year's gathering! As a Gaming Thought Leader, public servant, and community activist, I'm more convinced than ever that investing in the creative economy means investing in tomorrow's workforce.

In Loving Memory of My Mother, Florence L. Pennywell 🕊️💐

Yesterday, we gathered as family, friends, and community to celebrate the beautiful life and enduring legacy of my mother, Florence L. Pennywell.

Although our hearts are forever changed by her transition, we were surrounded by an incredible outpouring of love that was a testament to the impact she had on all who knew her. We laughed, we cried, we shared stories, and we reflected on the values she imparted—faith, perseverance, compassion, dignity, and an unwavering love for her family.

As her oldest daughter, I have always carried a deep responsibility to honor the sacrifices she made and the example she set. She raised us to work hard, to stand in our truth, to serve others, and to leave every space better than we found it. The woman I am today is rooted in her love, her lessons, and her belief in me.

I was especially moved and deeply humbled by the presence and love of my sisters-in-arms from the National Association of Black Military Women. Their presentation of a memorial resolution honoring my mother was a profound reminder of the bonds of sisterhood, service, and legacy. To be embraced by women who have also answered the call to serve our nation, and who took time to honor the woman who gave me life, is a gift I will treasure forever.

As a proud, legacy member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., the sorors of Xi Zeta Zeta showed up and showed out, graciously supporting our family throughout this difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who traveled near and far, sent prayers, flowers, cards, messages, food, and words of comfort. Your kindness carried our family through this sacred moment of remembrance.

Mom, your earthly assignment is complete, but your legacy continues through your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all the lives you touched. We will speak your name, carry your values, and make you proud.

I love you. I miss you. And I thank God for the blessing of being your daughter.

Rest peacefully, Queen. Your crown lives on through us. 👑🕊️

Today is Election Day. Vote, Baby, Vote!

Over the past two weekends, I had the privilege of canvassing alongside volunteers from the Santa Monica Democratic Club, talking with voters, listening to concerns, and encouraging civic participation in support of our endorsed candidates.

What struck me most at every door was that people care deeply about the future of our communities. They care about affordability, public safety, education, healthcare, civil rights, and the ability to have their voices heard.

We are living through a moment of profound change. Across the country, many people are concerned about voting rights, civil rights, reproductive freedom, educational access, and other hard-fought protections that generations before us worked tirelessly to secure.

That is why participation matters. This is why it's crucial that our past is not erased. We must remain vigilant.

Voting is more than a civic duty—it is how we shape the future. It is how we honor those who fought for the right to vote and ensure that our democracy continues to reflect the voices of the people.

I am excited to announce the launch of my USC doctoral dissertation study. I am seeking participants from across the video game industry.

As a former gaming industry professional and doctoral candidate, I am researching workplace appreciation, recognition, and self-efficacy among video game industry employees.

This study includes:

📋 A confidential online survey

🎙️ An optional follow-up interview for participants interested in sharing their experiences in greater depth

You may be eligible to participate if you:

✅ Are between 21 and 65 years old
✅ Currently work in, or have worked within the past three years in, the video game industry
✅ Are fluent in English
✅ Identify as neurotypical or cognitively diverse (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, etc.)

Professionals from all areas of the industry are encouraged to participate, including development, engineering, QA, production, analytics, publishing, marketing, art, design, community management, and live operations.

Your participation will help contribute to research focused on the people who make the gaming industry possible.
