Early spring is one of the most beautiful times on the farm: stone fruit trees blossoming in the Fruit Basket Orchard, branches heavy with vibrant late-season citrus, and animals grazing lush, green pastures fed by winter rains.⁠

Farm Tours are the best way to experience this land with all of your senses. You’ll dive deep into the regenerative farming practices we’ve used over the last 14 years to revitalize our soil, maximize biodiversity, and support the greater ecosystem as a means to growing healthy, vibrant food. From diverse orchards and gardens to composting methods, habitat restoration, and the essential roles our animals play, every tour tells the story of how this farm functions as a living, interconnected system. NEW this year: seasonal tastings on every Farm Tour, plus more hands-on opportunities to connect with the land.⁠

A few native blooms we’re still seeing around the farm 🌿⁠
⁠
California fuchsia, hummingbird sage, California goldenrod, and California buckwheat are still blooming as we head into the cooler months.⁠
⁠
Native plants are an important part of our regenerative farm, providing food and habitat for pollinators and other wildlife while supporting the biodiversity around us. 🐝⁠
⁠
The extra heat this year has kept things growing a little longer than usual. As temperatures cool, many native plants shift their energy toward strengthening their roots, getting ready for spring.⁠
⁠
And with last year’s rain + this year’s heat, we’re seeing a lot more weed growth this year.⁠
⁠
We’ll see what the next few months bring!⁠

Fall fruit is coming! 🍂⁠

The seasons are starting to shift, and some of our favorite fall fruits are making their way into the orchards. Here’s a look at what’s coming up on the farm.⁠

Feijoas, also called pineapple guava, are small green fruits with a fragrant, tropical flavor.

They have a bright, slightly tart flavor with a soft, fragrant flesh.

Cherimoya has a green, scaly skin and soft, creamy flesh inside. Its flavor is often described as a mix of banana, pineapple and vanilla.

It’s one of those fruits that feels like a treat all on its own!

Jujubes are small, oval fruits that start out crisp and apple-like when fresh.

💜 Violette de Bordeaux — smaller, dark purple figs with deep red, jammy flesh.⁠

Meet our new egg boxes!🥚

Newly designed to share the story behind our eggs —>

Our chickens spend their days grazing on fresh pasture and exploring the orchards.

Their mobile coop moves with them, giving the hens a safe place to rest at night and fresh ground to explore during the day.

And with our guardian dogs close by, the hens have a little extra company and protection along the way!

Each day, we collect their eggs by hand.

They’re taken to be washed and packed.

Meet the Lamb Hass 🥑⁠
⁠
Our Hass avocados are taking a seasonal break, and now we’re welcoming Lamb Hass into the box.⁠
⁠
Known as the “summer Hass,” Lamb Hass is a larger, later-maturing cousin of the classic Hass. It has a broad, pear-like shape, dark green pebbly skin that turns purplish-black as it ripens, and rich, buttery flesh inside.⁠
⁠
It’s a cross between Gwen and Hass, and one of the varieties we grow to help extend our avocado season into the warmer months.⁠
⁠
And just like a classic Hass, there’s not much it can’t do. Slice it over toast, add it to a salad, mash it into guacamole, or keep it simple with a little salt.⁠

This year, we expanded our pasture-raised egg program, which means we raised a lot more heritage breed chicks, and needed a home for them. So we converted these shipping containers into new brooder rooms, up top near our Native Plant Nursery. 🐓🥚

Our animals are an important part of how we farm, from chickens and cows grazing the land to bees supporting pollination throughout the farm. Healthy soil, busy pollinators, and animals out on pasture are all part of the way we care for this land.

It’s all connected, and it’s what makes life on the farm so special. 🐝🐓🐄
