POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

1 week until recital and we couldn’t be more excited! Our dancers have been pushing themselves and growing in so many different styles this season. I’m extremely proud to watch them take the stage, but even more proud of the progress, dedication, and confidence they’ve built throughout the year. Here’s a small glimpse into our ballet rehearsal.🤍

Process…

Some rehearsal footage. This piece has gone through a lot, but that’s how it always occurs in the first few stages. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with five beautiful dancers the past five months to develop a starting sketch of this work. Every moment that was created in this inspiring and boundary-pushing atmosphere will forever be cherished. This process has demonstrated that one simple question, has an endless amount of responses. I am excited for the uprising challenges and powerful moments that will occur in the next phase.

Thank you @sammyj.ohnson for capturing a glimpse of this. by @april.chinea

THIS is why I teach. 🤍

Coming off 30 hours of teaching in just three days, my body is exhausted, my emotions are high, but my heart is so incredibly full.

Celebrating 8 years of @underground_movement - a space that has opened its doors to so many artists, teachers, dancers, and generations! Makes me so thankful to have even a small part in its story.

And then I got to share a collab class with my baby girl, Julia. 🥹 @juliapaone_

This Dancer & young lady right here is the epitome of artistry in its rawest form. Watching her completely surrender to the music, the movement, and the emotion until there were literally tears… I was just as exhausted, emotional, and drained, but in that exact moment I knew…….I was right where I needed to be.

Thank you for allowing me to feel that moment with you. Those are the moments that remind me exactly why I do what I do.

I love DANCE. I love MUSIC. I love ART.
And I love what happens when all three allow us to feel something we can’t always put into words.

Here’s to many, many more years. 🖤
Life is short. Work hard. Dance harder. 👠💃🏼

Happy 8 years, Underground. Thank you for giving artists a space to FEEL. ✨
