'SOUL-SEARCHING' 2025Acrylic on Canvas This is created based of imagery from a dream.It is of a man stepping into a floating mouth under a bright sky and an unsettled sea. Around the mouth is a halo of yellow incantations with symbols including: life, death, the lotus, earth and fire. Within the mouth is a swirl that draws both the man and the viewer into the abyss within the mouth. 'Soul-Searching' is about breaking through the realms of nature and reality, and confronting the depths of the soul and human experiences whether we want to or not. At the initial glance, the painting reads as fractured pieces; sky vs water, man, a floating feminine mouth, nonsensical symbols. However, once read as a whole, the painting depicts the fullness of existence. All the elements of nature are depicted visually and with the incantation. Both day light and darkness exists at once, as well as the feminine and masculine. The man alluding to body and reason/mind, the flowing water is emotions, the incantation is spirit, and the abyss is the soul. Finally, life, death, and with the lotus flower symbolizing growth, the whole cycle of existence is constructed. As we live through the whole human experience, from start to end, with all the good and bad experiences, it’s important to take a moments to examine the self in all realms and dimensions. This painting encourages introspection and detachment to the superficial space of reality our waking life has created. by @april_showers_art

My barriers for @start_streetartoronto Bicycle Tracks Concrete Barriers Program 2025Last summer I had the opportunity to paint 2 Barriers for Street Art Toronto. My barriers were inspired by the Portuguese community in parkdale. The first barrier celebrates woman and how many traditions from the home land are passed down generations by generation from the women figures in families. The second barriers is inspired by the intricate details of Portuguese textiles. Like a tapestry or and intricate piece of clothing, community is weaved together by each individual. The tighter our compassion is for one another, the stronger our communities thrive. by @april_showers_art

Always late to post!Last August @life_inthestreets and I participated in the Under Pressure 30 MTL festival and got to paint on the infamous Foufounes Elecriques @foufouneselectriquesIt was a very challenging but fun colab painting with depth and dimensions of the doorway.
