Over the past two weeks, it has been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my career to help lead the planning and organization of the events celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Through my firm, APS & Associates, we had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary team of partners who came together with one shared goal: to honor Rev. Jackson’s remarkable record while respecting the family’s wishes for how his life should be celebrated. I’m deeply grateful to the incredible firms who stood shoulder to shoulder with us in this effort — Rise Strategies, Wagner Lane, MGPG, Rosemark, Irvin Street, and Ignite Blue. Each brought talent, professionalism, and heart to this historic moment.

I could not be more proud of my team at APS. They worked day and night with a clear understanding of the magnitude of what we were entrusted with. They listened carefully, learned quickly, and activated flawlessly — from coordinating with the Secret Service and city partners, to working with some of the greatest artists of our time, to overseeing flowers and design, and even creating the program booklet that captured the story of Rev. Jackson’s extraordinary life.

Thank you to the PUSH family and PUSH alumni who stepped in to support us in every way possible. Especially Reverend Bobby and Reverend Wilson, your commitment and love were felt at every step.

I also want to express deep gratitude to Rev. Jenkins, Rev. Dates, Rev Meeks and the House of Hope family, Darius Brooks, Shelley Davis, James Gomez, and Minyon Moore for their guidance, partnership, and steady support throughout this historic moment.

And most of all, thank you to the Jackson family for placing your trust in me and our team during such a sacred time. Your family leaned on us, and we carried that responsibility with deep respect, care, and gratitude.

Thank you very much to everyone who came out to our APS Ten Year Party! It was so meaningful to have friends, family, clients, and partners in the room celebrating with us.
From starting APS as a boutique company to becoming a full-service public affairs firm with a team of 20, I am incredibly proud of what we’ve built over this past decade. Our work has always been rooted in authentic relationships, actionable strategy, and social impact, and so much of our success has come from the trust that our clients and partners have in our APS approach.
I’m so grateful for our team and the time, expertise, and heart they bring to this work every day. As we start this next chapter, I feel confident and excited for what’s ahead. Thank you for celebrating 10 years with us. Cheers! by @apsandassociates

APS is TEN! Join us as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary by spotlighting the clients, campaigns, and partnerships that have shaped our story and made a lasting impact.

The Obama Foundation has been a defining partnership for APS, spanning seven years of community engagement, stakeholder relations, and strategic support. From the Woodlawn Planning Ordinance to the 2024 Obama Democracy Forum, our team helps build community trust and strengthens local partnerships.

Our work came full circle with the Obama Presidential Center’s Opening and Dedication Ceremony, where APS supported planning and production, guest services & registration, and on-site operations across the campus and Midway Plaisance.

For six years, SEIU Healthcare Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, & Kansas has trusted APS to turn ideas into action - from weekly member communications and media strategy to rallies, protests, press conferences, town halls, and “Legislator Walk a Days”- all bringing worker voices to the forefront.

Together, we have built power with child care, hospital, nursing home, and home care workers to demand and win social and economic justice for communities.

This week, Missourians voted DOWN the GOP-backed Amendments 4 and 5! APS proudly supported this campaign’s coalition of allied organizations, including our client SEIU Healthcare, with strategic messaging and on-the-ground organizing.

Amendment 4 attempted to overhaul Missouri’s 100-year-old initiative petition process. By beating back Amendment 4, the power to pass common-sense legislation that works for the everyday Missourian was protected.

Amendment 5 proposed increasing sales taxes in exchange for giving billionaires a huge income tax cut. Missourians overwhelmingly shut down this proposal in a display against corporate greed.

APS and Associates was pleased to be a part of the Mastercard Small Business Summit, identifying key speakers, small business vendors and executing community outreach to local area chambers and business associations. The attendance was great and the information shared by panelists were useful and mind provoking in helping provide resources for businesses facing new challenges today. Happy Pride, Chicago! 🏳️‍🌈

Team APS was out celebrating at Chicago’s Pride Parade this weekend marching alongside Governor JB Pritzker, Commissioner Lowry, and Attorney General Kwame Raoul as our city came together to celebrate love, identity, and community.

Pride is more than a celebration, it’s a reminder of the decades of courage it took to get here, and a recommitment to keep fighting for equality, visibility, and acceptance for LGBTQ+ people everywhere. by @apsandassociates

The APS team supported the planning and production of the Midway Plaisance Watch Party, where thousands gathered to celebrate the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

From recruiting 30 nonprofit organizations and small business vendors for the Art Market & Community Fair to coordinating 20 food truck vendors, our team helped curate an experience that reflected the vibrancy and spirit of the community.

APS Director of Community Engagement , Jarae Hines, and our Summer Fellows - Hailey, Jamya, Olawale, Antonella, and Akil - had the opportunity to witness the joy and excitement of Chicagoans, as well as visitors from across the country and around the world, who came together to be part of this historic moment in the Midway Plaisance! by @apsandassociates

It was a beautiful day on Thursday at the Obama Presidential Center Dedication Ceremony, and the entire APS team was all hands on deck!
Our team was spread across the event supporting registration and check-in, staffing the Solutions Desk, ushering and greeting throughout the plaza and other seated sections, supporting special guests, and helping guests in the Midway Plaisance.
