National Chemistry Week brought out the best of our campus community — and we’re still smiling about it! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by the free events and to the incredible faculty, staff, and students who made it all happen. Plus, check out our chemistry students who recently passed organic chemistry, rocking their rad new lab coats.

Science is for everyone, and this week proved it. 💙 Find more photos from the week on our Facebook page at the 🔗 in our bio! by @apsucostem

We're still thinking about the inaugural Tech Connect, because IT 👏 WAS 👏 EVERYTHING👏

JaNiah Harris, president of @gwcapsu, had the vision of what this event might look like. Then, we partnered with @apsucareersucces and the Office of Institutional Culture to bring it to life in a BIG way.

From a keynote by APSU alumna Sarah Wilson (AVP of Data Science at @hcahealthcare 🔥), to workshops, an alumni panel, free headshots, and a full employer expo — we're already counting down the days until we can do it again! by @apsucostem

🪰🌋 What happens when billions of tiny flies take over a lake?

Join us for Science on Tap on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as Dr. Jamie Botsch takes us to Lake Mývatn in northern Iceland. Its name means “midge lake,” and for good reason. These harmless, non-biting flies shape everything from algae to fish to spiders to the plants on land.

📍 Upstairs at @strawberryalleytn
🕟 Doors at 4:30 p.m., talk at 5:30 p.m.
🎟️ Free for all ages

Looking for an alternative to plastic? 🌊🔬

Meet Keira Scott — an Austin Peay engineering physics student who spent the summer at the University of Pittsburgh as one of nine students in the NSF REU program there. She researched seaweed‑derived coatings that repel water long enough for packaging use but still biodegrade quickly — a promising step toward reducing plastic pollution. ♻️
