Don’t worry guys, Anna got a new hip 2.5 weeks ago, took about 37 seconds off, and is back at it walking circles around me 😅

A huge thank you to the @aptrainingduluth community - there are no words to emphasize how much we appreciate you all and the support you show 🤍

Also if you were wondering if Gracie and Lucy are still cute - don’t worry they are!!!🐶 taken in AP Training by @aptpaige

The natural role of your core is to resist movement, not create it! Functional core exercises that force you to resist flexion, extension and rotation are a training essential for athletes ✅

➡️ Anti-extension is where you resist extending or arching in the lumbar spine (lower part of your back)

➡️ Anti-extension core training teaches athletes how to maintain a neutral spine and brace your core

➡️ Anti-movements help athletes stabilize the hips and spine during movement resulting in a strong foundation

➡️ A strong and stable core results in a greater ability to transfer energy and force between upper and lower bodies. This allows the athlete to produce more powerful and efficient actions during movements such as running/sprinting, jumping, throwing, shooting, kicking, etc., and also improves overall strength on movements such as squats, deadlifts, bench press, powerlifts, etc.,

➡️ Choose 3-4 of these anti-extension focused core exercises and perform 2-3 sets after strength training sessions ✅

Having strong, mobile ankles improves ⬇️
✅ Overall athleticism 💯
✅ Top-end speed
✅ Power production
✅ Reactive agility/speed
✅ Explosive strength (box jump, standing broad jump, vertical jump)
✅ Elastic explosive strength (hurdle hops, band-assisted jumps, stiff ankle hops, pogos)
✅ Squat depth - ‘knees over toes’
✅ Balance
✅ Coordination

▪️The foot and ankle both work together to provide support and mobility to the entire body. Having reduced ankle mobility and range of motion can significantly impact how well your body moves and increases your risk of injury ⬇️

Ankle work is a training staple at @aptrainingduluth 👏

Try out our mobility routine - can be done daily!
✅ Theraband Routine: 2-3 sets, 10-20 reps of each: Dorsi flexion/ Plantar flexion, Eversion, Inversion
✅ ‘Knees over toes’ lunge
✅ Soleus heel raises
✅ Partial ankle CARs
