DOOM GONG @doomgong at Soda Bar covering KISS’ Detroit Rock City with a double trumpet solo! For some reason i didn’t film the other trumpet player to the left but i think you can catch a glimpse of him.

First time seeing them ✅ One of my favorite shows all year ✅ Glad i dragged my ass out on a Monday night ✅ Will never miss another DOOM GONG show 👹 by @aquaboogieart

I wanted to create a mural for @kobeysswapmeet Sneaker & Vtg Clothing Swap that was inspired by Senior Cords - which were claimed to be first popularized in 1904 at Purdue College.

Graduating seniors would draw on each other’s pants, shirts, and skirts (many being corduroys) creating a wearable yearbook of memories. The drawings were often colorful and collaged scattered about with classmate’s signatures and bold lettering showing off school logos, year graduated, mascots, or favorite cartoon characters.

I think the best part of these rare and sought after pieces of vintage history is that all the drawings are unique and handmade, making each piece a one-of-a-kind. The drawings are not perfect, they’re a little wonky, and haphazardly placed- but that’s what gives them so much character and makes them so special.

Like a yearbook, none of it is really planned out but more impulsively drawn on in the moment. That is what i did with this mural, no technique for transferring the images, just freehand painting, inviting every imperfection in.
