Going on day 11 nails: packing, 3 days of travel, one zoo, one theme park, a seafood boil where these nails did the bulk of the heavy work on opening crab, shrimp, lobster and mussels, bathed a 50 pound pup and unpacked. These are press on nails and I didn’t lose a single one; I rarely do. I could update you in another 10 days and they’d still be on and look new (just grown out). They cost HALF of what I’d pay to get them done and this way, I don’t have to sit and have forced conversation with a stranger for an hour and 15 minutes. I found a girl on social media who can customize size AND design and she nails it every time. I’ve purchased probably 20 or so sets from her. I’ve also used a couple sets more than once. Also can’t do that at a salon. I can get three weeks out of a set, and the only reason I would take them off is to change the design and due to the grow out. by @aquick_t1

Q: “What message would you share with someone newly diagnosed?”

A: “I was just diagnosed almost 4 years ago, at age 41. It was a big change for my entire family, and I had to learn a lot in a very short period of time. I think most diabetics would agree that there’s probably more out there to learn than we ever thought, because no two days are ever the same. For someone newly diagnosed, I would tell them to ensure they have a good support system with friends, family, and significant others. I have a good support system, but I have found the most help in the most amazing group of people on social media. The type one diabetics and caregivers of type one diabetics that I see on social media actually live the disease every day and are extremely helpful and relatable. I would definitely recommend to start following and connecting with all the other type one diabetics you can find on social media. You can do this, you are capable and you are wonderful!”
