Grateful for friends who inspire me to push myself. Grateful for parents who support me in everything I do. Grateful for a twin who holds me accountable. And grateful for a body that bends but never breaks. Sub 5 hour Ironman 70.3 coming soon… taken in Cozumel, Mexico by @arahm55

I hope you can see it in my face in this video when I cross the finish line…PURE EUPHORIA.

When I settle down and get all the pics back, I’ll make a longer post about my experience and some incredible lessons I learned. For now…just know that I FINALLY DID IT!!!

Some know this but most don’t…sadly, our swim portion of the Ironman got cancelled due to rough water conditions. We stood in line for an hour before taking the bus to the swim start, then we stood at the swim start for an hour until they decided to cancel the swim, then we stood on the pier where the swim ends for another hour until we started the race. In total, we were standing for about 3.5 hours with no water and no food before we started the race. Without a doubt in my mind, that was harder than the actual swim would’ve been. Zach, Zack, and I all cried on the bus ride from the swim start area back to our bikes. I spent the next hour and a half sulking, but I made a commitment to eliminate every single negative thought from my mind as soon as I started the race. If I hadn’t have done that, I wouldn’t have made it to the finish.

My official time came in at 10:18. My projected swim time was about 65 minutes. That would have put my total time at a little under 11.5 hours. Which means I absolutely SMASHED my goal of finishing under 13 hours.

This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and I still can’t get over it. Crossing the finish line was EUPHORIC. It would have been completely impossible without everyone who supported me and showed me love. I’m so grateful for my family, my friends, and the random people who cheered me on during the race and made this whole thing possible. ♥️ I CAN’T WAIT TO TELL EVERYONE MORE ABOUT IT!!
