POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve been procrastinating taking pictures at my studio for the longest time and, since I finally did it, I’ll introduce myself because I realized that I’ve never done a post of this sort after being seven years in Instagram ✌🏼

Hi! I’m Lara, a self-taught surface pattern designer and illustrator from Venezuela and living in the Canary Islands, Spain.

Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or you’re fairly new, thanks for following along and letting me share with you what I love to do 🫶🏼

"Mediterranean Spirit" by Lara Mascareño is a beautiful collection of geometric rhythms and elegant illustrations that capture their scenic essence. Each pattern and theme derives its illustrations and cadence from its cultural setting, making this collection an authentic and captivating series. @aralma_design

Last entry for #betweenthepages2026 “The Bookshop“

This bookshop is inspired by one my favorite book series, “The Cemetery of Forgotten Books” by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. The story takes place in 1940s Barcelona, and the author drew inspiration from many real places around the city.

The bookshop featured in the series was inspired by a real life accessories store, housed in a beautiful Art Nouveau building. I got to visit it when I was in Barcelona (along with a few other locations from the books), and it was absolutely beautiful!

Thanks to the host for this wonderful challenge ❤️

This is my entry for week three of #betweenthepages2026 “Storybook Classics “

When I was little, I had this Beauty and the Beast carousel book, I loved that book! It had beautiful illustrations and it was such a joy just to look at, and I wanted to create my version based on the characters from the Disney movie.

I wanted to mock it up and I found a really fun simulator on @adobeexpress, and of course, I spend a ridiculous amount of time having fun with it (this is not an AD but it could be 👀)

This was a fun one to create for #betweenthepages2026
Prompt: Literary Treasures

Now I feel the urge to create a collection for book lovers! That’s why I like drawing challenges, because sometimes you are absolutely clueless about what to create next 🙌🏼

This challenge was just what I needed to create something just for fun!
I’m not quite sure if I’m gonna be able to complete all the prompts but I had the best time drawing this for the first prompt: Reading Rituals (I think I mixed up with the second prompt as well 😅)

It only took me like six months to complete this collection 😄 I was never in the mood to create the rest of the prints but I finally took care of the situation!

The swan pattern is part of my wallpaper collection with @funkypaperco 🫶🏼

I’m back at my studio after spending a few days at the beach.

Our vacation was briefly interrupted by a heat wave (we actually returned home for a couple of days 🥵) and headed back to the beach to enjoy the rest of the days 😄

Since I created zero artwork during this time, I’m sharing this under the sea pattern I created a while back.

I started this illustration during the Euro Summer Sketch Club drawing challenge but didn’t finish until now.

Every time I opened the file, I felt like I needed to add something else so I kept adding details until I decided that it was done 😅

Por fin terminé esta ilustración que empecé hace unos cuantos días y no podía parar de agregarle algo nuevo cada vez 🙈

Me llevó unas cuantas horas pero valió la pena ☀️
