THEATRE THROWBACK: FILM FEST 🎬 🎭

now this may seem like something silly to do a throwback for… but film fest has been probably my favorite part of the school year since freshman year. i LOVE scriptwriting and coming up with ideas and all that. it was actually this year with the absolutely insane group that produced the masterpiece bailenovela that made me realize how much i love it.

bailenovela particularly is so special to me. i know the cheesy comedy that parodies maria la del barrio is an odd thing to revere in such high regards, but the memories i made in this group are absolutely unforgettable. i’m so proud of us, our movie, and the fact that we had such a good time doing it. clearly we’re doing something right to sweep the awards 🥱 in all seriousness though, i really appreciate all of yalls work that you were willing to put out to make bailenovela as special and fun as it was. love yall max, perry cate, and allie grace ❤️

inheartcerated was so shockingly good. like yall ate with that. i’m so sad i couldn’t be in the class to be there with yall, but im happy that yall let me be a part of peak

same goes for love lab. i genuinely forgot how funny love lab was until i was rewatching it for this. oh my god we were actually cooking up with it. once again, so sad i couldn’t be a more active part but im so happy yall let me be a part of it

lovesick was the og film. and is it still peak? absolutely. that was my first film fest, and oh my days was it fun figuring out how to even make a movie. devin demitri demarcuous smith da third remains supreme 👑

only the REAL ogs know about da bootz 🤫

anyway the best way to celebrate these films is to put some of my favorite clips from them so… enjoy! if you’re sad they’re muted maybe it’s a sign to rewatch the originals…

THEATRE THROWBACK: SENIOR YEAR 🍎 🏰

now let me just tell yall that i will be the first to admit i was wrong. i went into descendants without watching it and only having listened to the soundtrack, so i thought it would be rough and i wouldnt care. i was so wrong. this show was SO FUN. i love choreo heavy shows and comedies… so basically descendants was perfect! playing the chemistry teacher??? hello? that was literally made for me! i’m actually so grateful that i was allowed into this wonderful production even though i wasn’t in the class because i honestly loved it. i still listen to ways to be wicked (musical version). this was definitely on the more fun side of shows ive done because the whole thing was literally just a blast start to finish. i loved descendants and miss it even though i never in a million years would’ve thought that before the show

and since im like five months late meaning it’s almost inappropriate to make a post about it and it fell during hadestown… disney trip sneak! i’m a disney guy at heart let me tell you i love that theme park. we need to do a disney trip reunion when we all actually have money and spend more than like 4 hours at epcot

now i know you’ve been expecting the personal shoutout at the end… and this one goes to no other than the GOAT HIMSELF MAX LEFORT! funny, smart, nice… really, what else could you ask for? us theatre guys gotta stick together… it gets rough out there. but in all seriousness, you are so awesome max and i’m actually so happy we got so close this year. i still think about the whole carlos and carl or whatever we named him. drama club is so lucky to have you as its treasurer, and i know you’re gonna absolutely KILL IT by @arandomperson552

THEATRE THROWBACK: JUNIOR YEAR 💙 🌊

mamma mia! oh me oh my! this show is so special for me because it really reaffirmed my love for theatre. even with this year being the transition into talented theatre and me missing out on 13, im so happy i still decided to stick it out because i met so many people i didn’t know before that i became such great friends with. macy and macey… looking at you 🤫 and also shoutout to like the five girlfriends i had this show! macy, cece, kate, kyla, and isabelle, just know i couldn’t have asked for better mamma mia girlfriends! and for my goated scene partner darcy just know this show was a blast to do with you. anyway this was overall just such a great experience with such a great group. i LOVED being eddie. i love mamma mia and abba and all that jazz, so this truly was a perfect show with a perfect cast.

and… hold up… OFFICER?!? that’s right! treasurer of drama club right here! i was elected for my two year reign of terror and had a great time doing it.

and since there was no other opportunity for this, it wouldn’t be junior year without mentioning the arrival of the GOAT kensley harris! from parrot to mamma mia extraordinaire, i’m so happy we met and were able to be friends because you’re so awesome! by @arandomperson552

THEATRE THROWBACK: SOPHOMORE YEAR 💋🏛️

mean girls! fun fact about this one: mean girls is actually my favorite movie of all time! being in it as kevin g was actually a dream come true. this was such a fun show to be in. i really do love having the loser nerd type cast 🥹

and then we have 12 angry jurors. i was so pleasantly surprised by this one. i got the main antagonist and actually really liked the show! it also helped me pass ap gov so a win is a win

best thing to come out of sophomore year was my queen emma bankston! my theatre bestie in sophomore and junior year. you are so funny and sweet, and i’m really very happy we met and got to be friends because you’re amazing to be around ❤️ i also got way closer to my very good friend brayden saglibene who i also love dearly

favorite non-theatre memory has to be my chemistry music videos. i know they were the perfect source of pre-show entertainment since you guys just kept watching them. chlorine bond with me >>> by @arandomperson552

THEATRE THROWBACK: FRESHMAN YEAR 📣 🧽

im being completely and totally honest when i say that miss beth was my favorite show ive ever been in, and probably my favorite role ive ever played. this show will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart, no matter how camp and/or terrible it was. this is MY show and my favorite show. terrific group of people to work with, really funny script, my first ever high school show, landing a pretty decent part… i could go on forever. but i wont because if you’re still reading this you’re probably bored. it was this show that encouraged me to keep doing theatre no matter what was going on to me. miss beth, from the bottom of my heart, i really, really love you.

then we have spongebob! this one has sadly mostly faded from my conscious, but i still remember having a really fun time. it was so fun and upbeat, and we literally had the perfect cast for all the leads. it was insane. i remember this being what really made me want to stick with musicals even though im a terrible singer because i had such a good time.

then… the audition??? getting called back to the junior high to fill in for somebody was not on my theatre bingo card, but i’m still glad it happened. i really enjoyed seeing all my old friends again (abby, maeve, quinn… love yall from the bottom of my heart) since i had been missing them. besides, i loved my part. i got to do terrible tango and it was awesome. shoutout to don zolidis my goat. did this lead to favoritism accusations that haunted me during sophomore year? yeah, totally. but i don’t regret it at all because i loved it

i’m really missing theatre and will definitely mourn not doing it in college… shoutout to serena zhu who stayed in my id for probably way too long of a time. i think it was like 2 whole years. and on that note, thank you SO much to all the amazing seniors from my freshman year who set such a strong example and made me really want to keep doing theatre and be a role model like them.

the final europe trip post… tragic that it had to come to an end this was such an amazing trip 😢
i think i actually love ancient ruins those were awesome
i have a newly kindled love for ceramics that ceramic garden was awesome
loved the cruise life that buffet was so freaking good (until the pancake chipped my tooth 😒)

girl i just graduado
grad post! wow… what a long 4 years. a whole bunch of stuff happened through it all from getting my dream role to getting into my dream school, but we made it! i’ve met so many great people over the last 4 years as we’ve suffered through rehearsal and ap together (love you all)
i can’t wait to get to rice and see what the future has in store for me. i’m actually so hyped to be an owl for the next four years with possibly the best mascot around (sammy mogs phil any day @pawnsolossophia 🥱). it’s been great, love yall, and peace out 🦉 by @arandomperson552
