Would any writer want to live in the worlds they created?

You have a different top 3 then let me know! I chose mine based on the influence they had on the genre as a whole. by @arc_writesbooks

He’s got a long road ahead.

This is Thane. A young man who dreamed of being a knight until the harsh reality of the world seemingly took that away from him. He is now on a journey to pursue his purpose despite his loss.
Amazing art by @nnelts thank you very much.

Is it the echoes each footfall makes in a cave? Is it the extra snow falling of an overburdened tree? Is it the whistles and heckles of a packed marketplace? Or is it something else?
My answer, yes and no.
Yes it’s all these things. No it’s not JUST all these things. I’ve always felt the most immersed in a setting when the characters are actively interacting with it.

“John covered his nose as he passed by the rotting corpses littered about the cavern. He ducked under a large spider web only to be entangled in a few neglected strings that he failed to see. As he was brushing himself off the front of his foot got caught in a crack in the floor causing him to stumble forward. He clenched his hands closed his eyes and counted to three in his head.”

I am by no means saying this is THE example of getting immersed into a setting but this is what I mean when I say I get the most immersed through the character.

How do you find yourself getting immersed in settings. What piece of fiction whether it be book/movie/video game does this for you extremely well?

For me the simple answer is-
DRUM ROLL!!!
A normal person.
Not an edgelord who personality could be boiled down to sarcasm or being an asshole or being a sarcastic asshole. To me a morally grey character is someone who isn’t particularly heroic and isn’t particularly evil. Someone who is just the right amount of selfish but also not going so far at to never care about other peoples needs or interests. Just a normal person.
As for the WIP question directed towards writers. Do you have morally grey characters? What makes them morally grey? What do they do? How do they talk to others?
For readers.
What do you think morally grey characters are? How would you define them? What’s your favorite example of one?

(Writing advice) Is it the unseen? The knowing of something that is going to happen? Is it the helplessness? Or the small sliver of possibility that you can save yourself? Personally I think it’s a mix of it all. But I think the most important is to have an attainable hope. Just big enough that there is a small possibility of achieving it. Thoughts?

What would define as an honorable warrior? In what circumstance should honor be cast aside for the greater good? If honor must be cast aside can this cause still be considered good?

What’s more captivating to watch. A hero lose themselves to the cause or their emotions so much so that they turn into the villain? Or a villains long path to a true redemption? Which one do yall feel drawn to more and why? by @arc_writesbooks
