🎉 It’s Principal Appreciation Month!

Each week, we’re celebrating the incredible leaders who make a difference every day in our schools. We’re kicking things off with principals of the Arcadia Learning Community!

✏ Dr. Janelle Danskey – Arcadia High School

Dr. Danskey is in her 18th year as a high school administrator and her 5th year leading Arcadia High School. Prior to joining the Scottsdale Unified School District, Dr. Danskey worked in St. Louis, Missouri and Hillsboro, Oregon.

✏ Dr. Junior Michael – Ingleside Middle School

Dr. Michael is entering his 20th year in education and his 6th year as principal at Ingleside. Prior to Ingleside, Dr. Michael taught math for 8 years and served as a Dean for 1 year, before transitioning into an Assistant Principal position for 6 years.

✏ Anne Plenkovich – Hopi Elementary School

Mrs. Plenkovich has been the proud principal of Hopi Elementary since 2022. She has worked in education for close to 30 years, and had been an principal instructional leader for over 10 years.

✏ Julie Ballard – Tavan Elementary School

A 25-year veteran educator, Principal Ballard has led Tavan Elementary since 2019. She spent 13 years as a special education teacher, served as assistant principal, and has taught educational assessment at NAU.

Students, have a voice in how AI is used in your classroom! 🤖

SUSD is launching the Student AI Ambassador Program, giving students at every high school the opportunity to help shape responsible AI use across the district.

Student AI Ambassadors will:
• Serve as a peer resource for responsible AI use and SUSD’s AI policies
• Partner with an Educator AI Ambassador on a school-based activity
• Help gather student and teacher feedback on AI use
• Connect with Ambassadors from across SUSD to share ideas and progress
• Contribute student perspectives as SUSD continues to develop its AI guidelines

This is an opportunity to build leadership experience, help your peers and have a direct voice in how AI evolves in SUSD classrooms.

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has unanimously approved a resolution calling for a $375 million special bond election on November 3, 2026.

Attend a Community Informational Town Hall tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Arcadia High School from 6-7 p.m. to learn about the proposed investments.

The proposed bond program includes investments in:

• Learning Environment Improvements
• Technology Enhancements
• Site Lifecycle Renovations
• School Safety & Security
• Transportation
• Administrative Capital Improvements

*Bond funds may only be used for voter-approved capital projects and cannot be used for teacher salaries, employee benefits, or day-to-day operating expenses.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Voter Registration Deadline: October 5, 2026
• Election Day: November 3, 2026

As our newest alumni begin their next chapter, we're taking a moment to celebrate all they accomplished during their time at Arcadia.

The Class of 2026 leaves behind an incredible legacy:
🎓 363 graduates
⭐ 83 students earned a GPA of 4.0 or higher
💰 $4 million in scholarship offers
🏫 300 graduates are college bound

Fresh off their state championship season, the boys basketball team from Arcadia High School was recently honored at the Arizona State Capitol with a legislative proclamation recognizing their incredible achievement.

The team and cheerleaders visited the Capitol and were recognized by Arizona legislators and Carine Werner, who serves as both an Arizona State Senator and an SUSD Governing Board member.

Congratulations to these outstanding student athletes for their hard work and dedication throughout a championship season.

Arcadia High School senior Callahan Klein was recognized at the most recent SUSD Governing Board meeting for using his musical production talents to help bring Scottsdale Unified’s CTE programs to life. 🎶🎥

As a student in the CMAS CTE program, Callahan produced original music for a series of district videos highlighting Career and Technical Education programs across SUSD. His creativity, technical skill, and dedication to supporting projects beyond the classroom made a meaningful impact while showcasing the real-world skills students are developing through CTE programs.

The countdown to graduation is on and before they turn the tassel, our seniors are taking a walk down memory lane. 🎓

Students from all SUSD high schools are returning to the elementary and middle school campuses where their journeys began, reconnecting with former teachers, sharing smiles with younger students, and inspiring the next generation to dream big.

These Grad Walks are filled with special moments, memories, and full-circle connections as staff and students celebrate just how far these seniors have come.
