How can architecture create new perspectives for dialogue and understanding?

Join us on 27 October for a Going Public lecture by Wim Goes, titled "Potential Shifts".

As founder of Wim Goes Architectuur, Wim Goes combines architectural practice with academic research. His work has been published internationally and explores themes such as Reverse Perspective, an ongoing investigation into architecture, representation, and the potential of models as tools for intercultural dialogue.

This lecture offers insights into a practice where research and design inform one another, opening up new ways of looking, thinking and engaging with the built environment.

📅 27 October 2026
 🕡 18:30-20:00
 📍 Auditorium A4, Alexianenplein 1, Ghent

The lecture is free and open to everyone.

📍Next Wednesday 14/10 we will welcome Maarten Weyns and Omar Kashmiry from @meow.collective.brussels on the sofa. Meow collective began informally in 2021, when the two architect friends set out to engage with their immediate surroundings, the Northern Quarter of Brussels, and has since grown into a collective practice exploring the right to the city through playful, community-driven design.

Working across renovation, public space and neighbourhood transformation, Meow collective creates inclusive and vibrant spaces by collaborating with residents, local groups and professionals throughout the design process. Acting as a bridge between communities, designers and institutions, they use workshops, events, temporary interventions and feedback loops to co-create spaces that genuinely respond to local needs, amplifying underrepresented voices and weaving everyday stories into their work along the way.

For the sofa, Maarten and Omar will explore the question “Who builds Brussels?”

💭 Join us for fresh discussions, open dialogue, and an evening where everyone has a seat at the conversation, wrapping things up with a drink!

Merging urban mythologies and deeply personal spatial experiences, the film can be described as a vivid daydream. Through reconstruction of subjective urban landscapes, Guy Maddin uncovers how collective imagination shapes the way we see, inhabit, and talk about cities

WE REIMAGINE Yearbook 25/26

We are excited to share the second Yearbook of the Master programme in Urban Design and Spatial Planning at KU Leuven!

Through three design studios, our students explored the future of modernist social housing in Ghent, the relationship between water and urbanisation in the Eurometropolis, and new possibilities for the former Audi factory in Brussels. Together with the Workshop Week and Study Trip, the Yearbook brings together a wide range of explorations and future scenarios, from bold and provocative visions to concrete spatial strategies, reimagining the future of our cities and territories.
Because “business as usual” is no longer enough!

Many thanks to all the students of the master programme during the 2025/2026 academic year

Meet the speakers!

On Thursday 22 October, @paf.community and @arch_kuleuven come together for an evening about Collective Care in Design Education, moderated by @irenexferia. Starting from the experiences of students and teachers, this conversation explores how we can foster a culture of care from the studio to the auditorium and back. Which habits can we rethink, and what new methods can we try?

From left to right:

• Marie Scheidmann & Julien Jacob (@iulieniacob) - Both architects with backgrounds in student initiatives, including Horizonte, Écoles Troubles, EASA and student boards. Together they initiated 'Not an Elective' at KU Leuven, a student-led course focused on shaping and discussing the learning environment.
• Virginia Sonko Fati (@a.gini.us) - Architecture student at the University of Antwerp.
• Jan Bleyen - Anthropological historian and a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at KU Leuven.
• @nadia.casabella - Architect and urban planner and a professor at the Faculty of Architecture La Cambre-Horta (ULB) and co-founder with Bert Gellynck of 1010au.
• @sotiria_kornaropoulou - Architect and partner at 51N4E and studio tutor, jury member for architecture students at Ghent University.
• Soumaya Baidaoui (@maya_baidaoui) & Yasmine Amrani (@yasmineamraniii) - Architecture students at KU Leuven and part of @3ca_collective, a student collective inviting us to rethink architectural education.
• Luc van Basten Batenburg - Architecture master's student at KU Leuven and a student representative.
• Liesbeth Huybrechts (@liesbit) - Professor in the areas of participatory design, design anthropology and socio-environmental transformation processes in the research group Civic and Policy Design, Arck, University of Hasselt.
• @samdevocht - Architect, urban ecologist and researcher. He teaches at UAntwerpen, TU Delft and EKA Tallinn.

On Tuesday, October 20th, BC studies is hosting a roundtable discussion at @stadsatelierdeville.brussels Organised in the framework of the Fall School, the event will focus on the theme “Productive City 2.0”.

Ten years after the initial debates around the productive city, this panel takes stock of how we can retain and reconnect industry, craft, and circular material flows within the Brussels Canal Zone. Rather than treating urban manufacturing and housing as competing land uses, the discussion examines how circular hubs can serve as structural catalysts for climate neutrality, preserve industrial heritage, and anchor inclusive local communities.

Panellists:
• Frederik Serroen @bouwmeestermaitrearchitecte
• Charlotte Kokken @vooruit.brussels
• Oana Bogdan @bogdan___design
• Ward Verbakel @plusoffice_urb_arch
Moderated by Zeynep Topçu & Henri Uijtterhaegen.

Organized in collaboration with @stadsatelierdeville.brussels @arch_kuleuven @tu_wien @architektur_rwth @ensaparisest @wearetouro @tu.muenchen @hochschulemuenchen

ARCHIVE OF SPATIAL MEMORIES

The five-day workshop ‘Archive of Spatial Memories’ invited students to scan, catalogue and recompose urban fragments. Starting from a personal memory or fascination, students used photogrammetry to build a collective archive of 3D models. In a second stage, this archive became a set of building blocks for reconstructing and reinterpreting the scanned urban fabric. The resulting 3D collages were then given physical form as ash-grey 3D prints and exhibited as small sculptures on an L-shaped brick pedestal.

📍For our second Wednesday evening, 07/10, we will welcome Juliane Greb from @buerojulianegreb on the sofa. Founded in Ghent in 2015 by Juliane Greb and run in partnership with Petter Krag since 2017, the office is dedicated to an anti-exclusive architecture. Accessible in a social, physical and emotional sense.

Alongside her practice, Greb contributes to the theoretical discourse on affordable and community-oriented housing, including with the editorial team of ARCH+, and teaches at UAntwerp, TU Delft and PBSA Düsseldorf, alongside a Visiting Professorship at RWTH Aachen. In 2023, together with Petter Krag, ARCH+ and Summacumfemmer, she curated the German Pavilion at the 18th Biennale Architettura di Venezia, “Open for Maintenance / Wegen Umbau geöffnet,” exploring repair, maintenance and care, and new alliances and forms of solidarity in architectural practice.

In 2025 she curated a talk together with PAF, Vai and BWMSTR. “What would a non-ableist city be like?”. How can we engage with historic architecture that is not only physically inaccessible but also represents and reproduces an aesthetic of ableism? And what it might mean to approach architecture by seeing disabled bodies and experiences not as problems to fix, but as starting points for design.

For the sofa, Juliane will share insights into “Learning from disability” and open up a conversation on how care, accessibility and collective experience can be placed at the centre of architecture linked to her own (teaching) practice.

Can architecture emerge from play rather than from fixed solutions?

Join us on 13 October for a Going Public lecture by Eagles of Architecture (BE), titled "No Inventions but Interventions".

Working from a desire to play rather than entrepreneurship, Eagles of Architecture develops each project through its own set of rules. Their work explores collaboration, shared convictions, and the continuous search for architectural meaning, while engaging in a dialogue with both contemporary practice and architectural traditions.

 🕡 18:30-20:00
 📍 Auditorium A4, Alexianenplein 1, Ghent

The lecture is free and open to everyone.

Welk boek zou jij kiezen?

We zijn open van 9 tot 5 en er zijn boeken (ook een goeie portie van die hiernaast!). taken in LUCA Sint-Lucas Beeldende Kunst Gent by @arch_kuleuven
