India’s first national cooperative university is getting its campus, and we’re designing it.

Tribhuvan Sahkari University, Anand, Gujarat. Set up by an Act of Parliament in 2025 and named after Tribhuvandas Patel, founder of the Amul cooperative movement.

• 125-acre campus
• About 92,700 sq m of buildings in Phase I
• 830 student beds, plus faculty and staff housing

Academic blocks around shared plazas, linked by a covered colonnade. Klinker brick, granite, cool roofs and solar panels, chosen for Gujarat’s climate. The project has been tendered by CPWD.

When culture shapes architecture, a city develops its own identity.

Lucknow's art, craft, culture, and traditions have played a powerful role in shaping the way its architecture has evolved over generations. From its historic roots to contemporary spaces, the influence of the city's cultural character continues to find its way into design.

In this conversation from Urban Next 2.0, we explore how the cultural DNA of a place can continue to influence its architecture—then, now, and into the future.

Architecture should belong to the place it is built in.

A building in Lucknow shouldn't speak the same architectural language as one in Shillong. Every place has its own history, materials, traditions, and climate—and good design begins by understanding these differences.

In this insightful conversation from Urban Next 2.0, the discussion explores why context and climate-responsive design are essential to creating architecture that truly belongs to its surroundings.

Should architecture always reflect the identity and climate of its location?
