Dear Ma, I can't believe this is your 8th Heavenly Birthday. Any words I piece together couldn't paint a fraction of the picture of who you were and what you meant to us as a family. Everyone is having a hard time today, but that is just a sign of how deeply you loved us and shaped our lives. You were my grandMother and my friend. I saw you. I feel like people are afraid to say that their love language is gifts. No one wants to claim that one. In fact, I used to be that way too. My number one love language was acts of service. I never wanted gifts or liked gifts because it always felt like I owed somebody something. And the survival version of me would never let somebody feel like they can use anything against me. But on this healing journey creating space for me, becoming a whole person that's allowed to have wants and needs and not just going with anyone's flow erasing myself to be kept, belong and be loved. I found that gifts are incredibly meaningful to me. It doesn't matter the cost at all, it's the intention behind it and the fact that the ones closest to you do it with no strings. Gifts show me that you know me. So gifts from my trusted people are my love language. I ain't scared! Lol Thanks for making me feel special, friends (: Thanks to my partner in life for the signed pre-release I was too practical to get for myself 🥹 @citizensheem I saw them when I was in that survival mode back in the day damn near 10 years ago; @alabamashakes filled in the emotions and helped me hold on with their music that I hadn't built the language for yet. "Bless my heart, bless my soul Didn’t think I’d make it to twenty-two years old There must be someone up above Sayin’, “Come on, Devanne, you got to come on up”. Another artist's music I hold dear to my heart from that era is @EmilyKingmusic. And now have the privilege of seeing them BOTH again, together, on Sunday in a sidequest to Shelbourne, Vermont. This is path affirming to me. I think God gifts us in ways that lights up our soul and my experiences, along with travel, I have had with music has been a way he showed me in loved. Graphite Mommy loading... | day 1 of art class I never knew that classically trained artists draw with such technique! From standing 3 ft back to checking proportions and having a plum line. Even how they hold the pencil is crazy! It's much more like architecture than I ever realized. This class was hard AF LOL but so rewarding to see the figure arrive on the page.
