This week I led a study tour of the Israel Green Building Council through Berlin. A week of buildings learning to live with nature. A quarter that drinks its own rain. Roofs turned into forest. Wild gardens in the middle of the city.

At the Futurium, a wall asked: “What do you see now, that you didn’t see before?”
Might be the best question to open a new year with.

Had to share some more photos: The details and interiors.
What I loved most about Rosewood Phuket is how the boundary between inside and outside is completely blurred.

From the open-air lobby at the top of the site down to the bar, every space lets nature in, even the bathrooms open up to private green courtyards. Beautiful materials, subtle detailing, and design that actually respects its climate.

A really well-executed piece of modern tropical architecture.

Visited Rosewood Phuket yesterday. The way the structures sit hidden on the slope and disappear into the jungle is impressive. Instead of dominating the landscape, the buildings just let the nature take over.

Started at the top at the open-air lobby with that incredible view down the hill, grabbed a drink at the bar, and the staff was kind enough to give us a very nice buggy tour around the property.

Keemala, Phuket.

The concept doesn’t stop at the architecture. It runs through every detail. The materials, the finishes, the way the food arrives.

Bamboo structure. Bamboo leaf roofing. Local, layered, alive.

This is what it looks like when a brief is taken seriously all the way to the end.
