Finally made it back to INTUIT! The last time I was here it was to work of the second phase of packing and inventorying the contents of the Darger Room. It looks a little different now, but the vibe is great. Love the animated windows! Also LOVED the Bill Brady exhibit - wonderful pieces. taken in Intuit Art Museum by @archival_image

It's not the rosiest of views but, while doing some file clean up, I read the descriptive metadata for this image. A very informative short history of the space formerly known as the White House Rose Garden:

"This photograph of the Rose Garden was taken by Matthew D'Agostino on April 6, 2015, during the Barack Obama administration. The Rose Garden is located on the west side of the South Grounds, just outside the Oval Office. It has gone through several incarnations: a vegetable garden in the first part of the 19th century, a “colonial” garden in 1902, and then a rose garden in 1913. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy wanted to expand the garden for official functions and events. His idea became the Rose Garden, designed by horticulturist, gardener, and close friend of the Kennedys, Rachel Lambert Mellon. The garden was installed the following year, becoming a green theater for official ceremonies and a special place for the first family’s private enjoyment."

I may be late to the party, but I just read this news that this amazing photograph won the WHCA award for Presidential New Coverage by a Visual Journalist. An accolade among peers.

It's really pretty epic. I don't know whether to laugh or cry! © Andrew Harnik/ Getty Images by @archival_image

I haven’t been to EXPO Chicago in many years, mostly because contemporary fine art isn’t my main thang, but visited this weekend with my first born (an Art History student). Good times! We found some faves! Thanks for being such great company, @ginger__june ! #expochicago #contemporaryart #navypier #passingthetorch taken in EXPO CHICAGO by @archival_image

Compare / contrast. Looking at NASA's library yesterday I couldn't help but note a very significant different in demographics between the team that launched Apollo 11 vs the one that launched Artemis II. Yay for Women in STEM! #womeninstem #spaceengineers #NASA #scienceteam by @archival_image

I love having a reason to do research in the NASA image and video library. Turns out the new material is just as fun to find as the old! #NASA #artemisII #spaceengineers #astronauts #moon by @archival_image

As we inch closer to opening day of the Obama Presidential Museum, the effort that has taken me away from Archival Image for the last few years, I am reminded of the photographers and friends that shared their stories with me as I worked as a researcher on this formidable project. First in my heart will always be the wonderful Bob Black (a retired Sun-Times photographer), who shared with me these images of his mother, Elaine Curry Black. I've had the pleasure of working with Bob many times over the years, but I am grateful to him for sharing this very personal story about an election that meant so much to so many. #electionnight #barackobama #photojournalism #pictureresearch #bobblack by @archival_image
