'a decomposing dream'
2026-
inkjet, on photo rag

for connor

chicago's southside is riddled with many decaying, rundown buildings. moss overtakes the weathered brick as the wooden boards fill the holes that used to hold glass panes. each season erodes the porch steps further, and the doors keep the inside contents locked away in a time that doesn't bother to catch up with the world outside of it.

humans have begun separating the conditioned life from a life under conditions. we reject the state of nature, and leave it to deal with that which cannot resist its calling any longer.

all locations were found on google maps, where their decade-long rot is displayed.

all figures present were sourced by past photographs i've taken. in a time where i had no clue these places existed, people inhabited them. and unfortunately, they possibly might still. it is vital that you think about them in priority to the spaces that once belonged to them. by @archivalpractice
