hi friends :) it’s bea 🧸🌟

here’s an *updated* intro about me because i’ve been taking up this lil space in the online book community since 2022 and there might be new friends here too <3

this was inspired by my vv gorg ates @katonthejellicoe & @thepaperreels hehe! that’s all for me :) thanks for being here 💋

(reposted bc it was up for a few hours and i didn’t even notice the typo 😭 cause of my crash out: discovering something wrong with my post but hours later?!)

just for the summer by abby jimenez

“i still believed what i always had, that people are complex and nothing is black and white.”

for starters, the reddit post as a hook gave me all the feels and giggles because for those who know how gab and i actually met, justin and emma is just fictional gab and bea 🫣🫣 when i showed him this, he looked at me and said it could’ve been part of the first pluma episode LOL! i know i cry in almost every five-star romance book i read and whenever i finish a really good one, i’d always claim it to feel close to home. BUT THIS ONE??? it’s like abby jimenez wrote this for me to read after having experience a similar love story. the only difference is we didn’t date to break any curse.

more than seeing my relationship in this book, let me just tell you that timing is everything because i read lines from emma saying she feels small and it’s weirdly comforting because i say that whenever i feel like i take up too much space. so, all her unresolved traumas and the actions she made as a response were things i understood to my core ❤️‍🩹

i would’ve said the twist about emma’s family is the most shocking thing, but i think it’s the fact that emma admitted that she sees the world in black and white. again, timing is such a weird thing, but perhaps something we all need because i was just saying last night that i hate seeing the world in black and white, yet i can’t help it.

this is becoming more of a therapy sesh instead of a book review, so i’ll stop here. just know that i cried more than 5 times reading this book and even if i wanted to finish it, i intentionally dropped it because i wasn’t ready to read a fictional version of myself written by an author who doesn’t even know me.

is it possible to rate a book like idk 6 stars??? 😫⭐️ but also can we agree on the collective hate for j names (semi satire!!!)

get your phones ready, the cast is here 📲🗣️ please take note that politics wasn’t involved in choosing, unlike what happened in the book (if you know, you know!!)

contract killer kina is about a student by day and a contract killer by night who grew up surrounded by manila’s injustice. as kina’s past started to haunt her, she wished nothing but a normal life, and she knows she’ll never have it because she’s fallen deep in after her first kill.
